A large swivel desk lamp I find is essential. Also lots of scrap paper for jotting down ideas before you forget them.

a TV with a DVD player is a must for long nights of coding web pages...don't forget the Playstation 2 as well with NBA Street 2 & GTA Vice City...and a good speaker system with a nice collection of MP3s.

top thats what i have around my computer now and i never get anything done

i'll have music in there as i always work with music playing and of course much of my personal work is revolved around hip hop so its linked.

and nothing gets you more motivated than a rousing chorus of
wu-tang clan aint nuthin ta f**k wit,
wu-tang clan aint nuthin ta f**k wit

:D

ok here's my list...

large desk
high backed comfy chair
3 drawer pedestal/filing cabinet (with space for hanging folders for clients files)
2-door cupboard (for stationery and oddments)
wall-length shelving (1 or 2) (for folders, computer manuals)
wall clock
minifridge (milk, soft drinks, etc).
kettle (coffee machine can come later... i'll have to make do with instant for now).
cordless phone.
answering machine. (will only be there part-time).
apple mac
laser printer (heavy duty workhorse for generic printing)
colour printer (for final drafts, photos etc.)
scanner
digital camera
rolladex
asstd stationery. (envelopes, pens and the such)
large cork board for pinning reminders
2 large whiteboards for project planning.
cable modem
network hub with connections for 3 extra pc's (including my laptop)
palm pda. (keep track of work away from home).

not taking into account my budget (have some of the stuff already) would you say that is pretty much the beginnings of a decent office setup? anything i missed?
