nexcorp, that is my sig in here, not a comment i made specifically in this thread.

As far as WLS goes:

What most pro-WLS folks seem to forget is

a) Because of indeed their (financial) resources the likes of BD and such would be able to order thousands of subscriptions in the very first minute WLS kicks in and would leave you with no chance whatsoever.Yeah, you might be able to get a subscription too for one or two names as sure they would not be able to cover 100% of all good names - but then?
You would be sitting around with 2 subscriptions and that would be it.

b) Given they do have these kind of financial resources, what makes you think they will not phone up the owner of the name you have a subscription for and simply BUY the name before it even comes near expire date?

As if WLS will kick in, this is what its gonna be about - buying out other subscriptions but more important, buying the name from the current owner.

How many domains do you think buydomains have?
I entered a few keywords and I found a lot of crap domains for $288 or $688. Some domains have 0 in overture.
Are people giving that kind of money for useless domains?
eg mp3extra.com???
For a few keywords they have 0 domains.
Very strange strategy. I guess if it will work in the future.
I don't mean they don't have some great domains but there is too much junk.
Also do they only buy .com.net.org?

I hear they own approx' 200,000 names for resale.

They are strongly anti-WLS as it will curtail their grabs greatly, as the cost for them will skyrocket.

They seem to be the #-1 player in dropped names. Bring on WLS to level the playing field!

Here, here...............I completely and absolutely agree.
For those with forethought and creativity, WLS could be a very promising thing

I'd rather the name lands on BD than on Ults. At least you can buy the domain for a couple of thousand. :D Anyone ever managed to buy a domain from Utls?

Agree, Ult does not sell from what I hear but BD has them all priced way too high and I hear will not go less than $600 or so for even marginal ones.

BD's names also appear to be much better quality than ult's who has many dubious value names. It's a mystery how ult thinks people will type-in many of their poor names into their SE affiliate site?

Why not bring on WLS so we can get some names too rather than have BD and Ult get so many?

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are making too much money -- let's bring on communism and higher taxes to level the playing field! :)

BD and Ulta (bd especially) put Snaps and their own monitors
on domains before they hit Registrar-Hold (weeks prior to
expiration). This means they are aware of good names
dropping MONTHS in advance.

If you think WLS will stop them you're wrong.

They will do the same with WLS subscriptions and no one
will be able to compete (for a while).

Only thing that would stop them is when I will open my own drop catcher service and I will able to pick up %95 names that I wan`t for $6 each :)
But I know that this will not happen
