Buyer from Flippa (Mike Bratton - mlb9191919) purchased a domain from me back in April this year. Then in July I received notification from Paypal that the buyers credit card company was disputing the transaction - I sent the following correspondence to the buyer:

Mike

Re: Paypal Chargeback opened: Case ID PP-003-291-461-655

I have received a chargeback request from Paypal on your transaction for
Bullshark.net that you purchased on the 14th April 2014 and have also
received.

Your credit card company is disputing the payment Obviously you have the
domain
in your Godaddy account, so can you please rectify this, I have sent copies
of
this email, the transaction details and the whois details to Paypal, and
will also
escalate the issue unless you are able to stop this action.

Please advise asap on the outcome,

regards

Re: BullShark.net

Jason,

I'm talking to PayPal about this....

I didn't initiate any disputes or charge backs....

We are trying to determine if my account has been hacked ....

Please be patient ..PayPal is investigating this as we speak.

Thanks,

Mike

Since then however Paypal have found in favour of the buyer, have fully reversed the payment and the buyer - Michael Bratton has NOT responded to any of my correspondence

Sellers beware! - My lesson learnt

By the way does anyone have any tips to combat this? I provided Paypal details of the sale, but they still found in favour of the buyer, putting me in a negative balance, the buyer has in effect STOLEN the domain

The account has not been hacked.

His credit card company is the one who doing the dispute which means it was initiated by him. There is no way a CC is going to do the chargeback unless given authorization by the CC holder. The CC holder does everything in their power to ensure the identity of the caller (or complainant) to ensure proper identity.

I will PM to you the best route (and most secure route) to take to resolve this.

Question: Did he acknowledge buying the domain? There is a variation on this scam, where the buyer claims they never initiated the purchase, that the PayPal account was hacked etc.

Can you share here?
I opted to PM vs. posting in case the other party was a member on the forum.

The suggested option has worked for me without fail each time I have had to use it.
