I've owned this one for several years now. I'd sure appreciate any suggestions as to what you think it might be worth. Thx!

MAJOR BUMP ALERT, MAJOR BUMP ALERT

I was doing a forum search and came across this thread in my results. It really sparked my interest, it is a good example of just how crazy domains can be.
This guy posts this in 4/2003 and the first COD launches in 10/03...
If at the time this was a genuine post and the OP both owned the domain and owned it for years as claimed...
Geeze Louise
In his first and only visit here to Dnforum, the OP asks for an appraisal approx. 6 months before a blockbuster game launch. It does make one wonder about the circumstances of the post -- did the game devolpers contact the OP with an offer and his visit here was due to him both trying to figure why they were contacting as well as how much he should sell for?

It would be very interesting if the OP would pop in with an outcome. Sadly it would most likely be a "Gosh darn I could just kick myself" outcome -- but back in early 2003 who besides an insider could have ever known the domain value? Ya' can't kick yourself for that.
I wish the OP was a DN regular. Looking at the OP's lack of activity here at DNforum, I don't think we will ever know either how genuine this post was or about the domain sale.

Just think about this for a second -- this domain was a big nothing burger when he posted above and today, COD games are the best selling video games of our time
The thing about the OP's post is -- even though the chances are slim, how do ever know your "junk" is gold.

With this thread, I can't help but think of my son. When he was just a little guy (around 5) he scored a garage sale find by looking at his grandma and saying, "Well, you know grandma, one man's junk is another man's treasure".
Turns out in that case my son's little piece of "junk" is worth some $$ However just as a domain portfolio can be, I have a house filled of other worthless "treasures", LOL

(I hope bumping this is not against the rules. I looked at the terms of service and could not find anything specific on me doing so -- course I am blonde  If I have committed a faux pax, I am sorry. I just found the whole thing interesting and in no way intend to disrupt any talk or cause anyone any additional work)

Usually those one post wonders were already aware of production of a [insert copyrighted work here - e.g. movie, game, etc.] prior to registering the domain.

I don't think that.

The Domain was first registered in February 1999.

The producing software company "Infinity Ward" was founded in 2001.

But Medal of Honor was introduced in November 1999.

If the poster did know about the upcoming CoD game, why he should asked here?

Anyway- the Domain was'nt dropped and creekriot maybe got his/her $100 and perhaps a free copy of Call Of Duty too. :)
