Hello everyone,
My name is Jonathan Regan :)

For about 6 months, I've been building a website about cars. I would like to
sell this site, to pay for some new servers I am having installed. Please enjoy
this genuine opportunity and hit me with any questions you may have ...

Website for Sale: http://car-details.com/

Total Number of Unique HTML Pages: 53,741
(These are not dynamically generated. This website is around 800MB!)
Each page is designed to rank under a specific "car related" keyword phrase.
An example of one of these pages? http://car-details.com/pages/police-cars.html

Total Number of Unique HTML Pages currently in major search engines: 15,854
(For the last six months, this domain has attracted constant spider activity and new
pages are being added at the rate of around 1,000 - 2,000 per month). I've used the
well respected MarketLeap search engine saturation tool for these figures
- Please check independently at: http://www.marketleap.com/siteindex/default.htm
Google (1,460 pages listed and ranked) -- MSN (11,584 pages listed and ranked)
Yahoo!/FAST/AltaVista (2,810 pages listed and ranked) - check trend report at the
Marketleap website to see the real story behind this website's rise to fame ...

I've installed a professional visitor tracking program called M&M stats, and the site
receives around 150 visitors a day. Lots of spider activity as well. To insure that
we're all understanding each other, I've also done screen captures of the a few
months of Webalizer stats, straight from my server's cpanel interface. (Email me for details). All visitors
are flowing from the major search engines through pages designed to rank highly
for very specific phrases such as the small collection below (remember, 53,741!)

interprise rent a car 3 21-03-2005

There are literally thousands of visitors a month arriving at my website, through a
massive and diverse collection of car related keyword phrases. Most come from
Yahoo, MSN and Google, although the website is also located in all other engines,
including hundreds of directories (not spamming, FFA style ones either ...)

The website has a lot of pages, so I needed a way to change HTML code on all of
the pages quickly, so I purchased a mass replacer script, and paid one of my coders
to upgrade it. You can change the advertisements with only a few clicks, and it will
strip the existing HTML code from each and every page, thus replacing it with your
own code (for Adsense, FastClick, other banner exchanges, your own products etc).
It really is quite a simple process, and takes around 7 minutes to change all 53k pages.

The current advertising system is a Clickbank based contextual advertisement system.
It is fed from a PHP database, and is shown as clickable javascript that is overlayed on
the page. The search engines ignore this code (to the best of my understanding) and as
such, end up with lots of words relating to whatever car phrase the page is based on.

I've also got an AllPosters box on the website, that features car related posters & prints.
There is an autoresponder mailing list system, sold by the folks at http://www.SellWide.net
It is very professional is capable of attracting the names and email addresses of thousands
of visitors, searching for specific car related keywords.

Each page is linked via a sophisticated custom built sitemap and indexing system. It has done
a great job, and the search engines continue to find and add more pages each and every month.
Finally, the website has been approved by the FastClick network (all 53k pages!) and the buyer
will be given my FastClick account with the website, (so you don't need to re-apply etc). Easy.

This website was built specifically for sale. It took me a long time to integrate bits and pieces to
create this website. Over time, it found its way into the search engines, and continues to get a
lot more visitors each and every month. I never built it to make monthly income (I already have a
decent income), and instead - built it purely to sell it once I had finished. This is your opportunity
to purchase a website that is on the "up and up". If you have an existing mechnism to make a
decent amount of money (Adsense perhaps) then this website is definantly for you. In fact, if
you could leverage some existing car related traffic towards this website, then it would be
worth 10 times what you pay for it in the near future.

Full access will be given to serious bidders only. Please email me with an offer at the following
address: [email protected]

I'm a serious ebay/Paypal/Scriptlance user with a long history online. Can show credentials if
need be. I own a LOT of websites, and am keen to sell this website, to earn some money for
a new server. If you are interested, please write - but include an offer. I'm not going to bother
with a "starting price". That would be defeating the purpose of building this website over the
last 12 months.

Thanks for reading, and have fun online :)

Cheers,
Jonathan
P.S. - You can independantly verify the claims in this letter as much as you like. Please feel free
to email me with queries etc.
P.P.S. - I will continue to update this thread with more information, links to the screen captures etc. Thanks again.

Hi, understanding the work you put into your site etc... I may be wrong here but 150 visitors a day is not going to command a big buck offer around here in these parts of the woods, I have a site that gets 100 a day and I figure its worth no more than $500 to $800 / 24 months revenue. Just a suggestion that you edit and post a price range you are looking for, good luck with your sale!

Thanks for your advice :)

Yeah I agree - 150 is not much, but in actual fact, most days I get much
more than that (around 250-500). Just thought I'd shoot low. Although the
visitor count is fairly low, that's because I've never done anything to promote
the website (at all), apart from a single submission to the major engines ...

The search engines continue to find thousands of new pages each month, so
I am happy to watch the traffic rise slowly. For me, it was more about building
a monster website with 50k+ of static pages.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you and others. It is an ok website :)

Cheers,
Jonathan

Yeah, the 404 errors are easily fixed. I basically pulled the pages for the
forum, partners and product links. As far as I can tell, they are the only
problems across the entire site (and they're not really problems). I just
never got around to finishing the landing pages for those buttons.

Thanks for the heads up :)

hello
what a shame - my previous posters are correct unfortunately.
Most of the links are dead... at least for now.

Please fix them so I can evaluate your site, its is impossible to put your site on a $-mark since you give no price range and I can not see any of the 53 000 pages besides maybe 10.

thanks for help.

I'm not finding too many pages either... a bunch of 404s... and I also didn't see the results posted in linkpop. So, repeat what others have said... its kind of hard to put a value on this.

Most navigation on the index is broken, which will give search engines fits and starts.

I'll offer $100 for the site, payable only via escrow.com. I will pay the escrow fees. My offer is also dependant on the following. You will include the domain name, one month of hosting, all content and the mailing list.

Ok, thanks for the advice guys. I'll fix the 404 navigation links tonight.
(I'm away from my main computer at the moment). Please be aware that I've
done zero advertising for this website, hence the link popularity is very low.

But, page saturation is high (ie, the amount of pages listed in the engines).
Add a few pages of content, and establish a few links from other high PR sites
and this would be an amazing opportunity. The major engines have (and are)
listing thousands of new pages each month.

Anyway, I'll finalise it tonight. Thanks again. $50 is a joke lindmar, kind of like
your claim on secretshoppers.ca that your site is "The Fastest Growing
Secret Shopping Network in the World and all of CANADA!!" - yeah.
(Perhaps you can stop being so negative about my website.)

I made a mistake in not checking the links before posting it here, but it ain't
a dud mate. Check out some of these links for search engine penetration:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...www.car-details.com+inurl:www.car-details.com

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=site:www.car-details.com&FORM=QBNO

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=si...i=UTF-8&n=20&fl=0&dups=0&xargs=&fr=sfp&dups=1

You still think its worth $50? I'm not being smart - just a little hurt about your
comments. The website ain't perfect, but it is a good opportunity for a more
committed webmaster to take over ...

Hey, regarding ss.ca its for sale. And infact, the site makes anywhere from $100-$200 a day consistently for 8 months. We average 125-140 Sales per month for a $24.95 Membership. We have traffic stats like you wouldnt believe. So I would say yes its the fastest growing. We also have employers posting real secret shopping positions every single day.

Most mystery shopping/secret sites dont offer real postings.

You posted a site with a page claiming 50,000 pages and none of us could even get past the first page...

Thats all. If that was the case, no I still woudlnt pay more then 50 bucks..
However, yes once its fixed and working its worth alot more!

Also Secretshoppers.ca isnt even my site anymore. I sold it and now am business partners with the buyer...

How about posting a buy it now or a range at least?

The chances someone is gonna just offer you a ton of money for this site is minimal. If you just give us what you are looking for it will either sell or be ignored.

All that being said... OFFER REMOVED

What is this:

http://car-details.com/pages/

Your site I do not understand. Broken links and these static html pages..wherea are they?
