Good to hear your website is doing well. Didn't mean any harm mate.

Ok, so far as my website is concerned, I'm in the process up fixing up a
couple of pages. There will be no 404 errors soon. The link and sitemap
pages have always been available for all to see (last link on page).

I should have clarified from the beginning a few things ...

#1 - web design was not really a priority. Goto http://TemplateMonster.com
if you want a flash front end. The pages and getting them into the engines was
always my priority, and I have achieved that.

#2 - A few 404 errors appeared because three pages based in the navigation
menu were removed from the website when I changed hosting companies.

#3 - The pages that are in the search engines took months to be spidered.
Nothing "scammy" about this website. Truely unique HTML pages that rank
under thousands and thousands of unique keyword combinations. Unlike the
classic PHP or CGI spam technique, these pages are static HTML - and they
are receiving visitors each day. I hope that's worth something to someone. lol

I found the content on the site, although I must admit I wasn't impressed with the content itself, but I was impressed with the volume of content.

What about any revenue?

DNgeeks...how did you find the content?
You say that 1000-2000 pages are added each month..how?

http://car-details.com/pages is the root directory for the 53,000+ pages.
There is a script in there that creates sitemaps for that quantity of pages.
(It's a lot harder than you think to create sitemaps for 50k pages). When
I changed hosting companies, I forgot to turn indexing off for this directory.

Ok, it looks like I am finally getting my stuff together. Thanks for the tips,
and the continued interest. Yeah - the website is huge. And, the search
engines know it. They are spidering it and adding pages every hour.

I have no idea what this website is worth. What I do know is this. Given
a few more weeks, I expect all 53,000 to be listed in the major engines.
Whether this is worth something to someone is another question.

I realise now that I was way too premature in listing this website for sale.
Another hour or two of coding and things would have run more smoothly.
Sorry if I've wasted anyone's time. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, I do have a replacer script that is really powerful. Basically you cut
and paste chunks of HTML code from existing pages, and replace them with
whatever you want. It's a lot easier than you may think.

As for content, that was parsed previously from Google and several other
search engine and discussion based forums etc.

As for revenue, up until a week or two ago - I had no mechanisms to earn
money on the website. Like I said - I was really only interested in churning
out 50,000 pages, and seeing if I could get them listed in the engines.

I spent around $9,000 developing software to build this website. It's my
oldest site, and hence is not very attractive. But it has lots of pages in the
engines, and could be a good website for you to build up link popularity etc.

Hope that helps a bit.

It took me about a week to build all 53,000 pages. You can see an accurate
count by visiting this URL: http://car-details.com/pages/go.php

That simple PHP script basically counts the amount of files in the directory.
The pages lay dormant for months, and then I built a sitemap program to
link em all together. Soon after that I submitted the site to a few sites.

Then the spiders started arriving. The pages don't change. 53k is enough.
When I said that around 2,000 a month are being added, that's because the
major search engines are still spidering my site, and adding new pages to
their listings over time. It continues to grow.

I know it seems like a crazy idea (and yeah it was), but take it or leave it.
My crazy website is for sale. Perhaps the world's largest static HTML based
information site about cars? I dunno.

Is your site based on search results? This is what it looks to me.

I will offer you $150, provided you correct the 404 errors.

I own several car sites (in fact I specialize in them) and what I see here is a ton of simplistic content, poorly organized and hard to navigate through. Yes, the site does have potential, but it also looks like something you could make in a few days using a simple script or two.
