These are really nice looking themes which would work.
I'm not using them but intend to.

that is a quite nice theme...
thanks for sharing...

now I just need to round up a dev-boy that will install a template like that and fix the site up for me for low XX in the future when I am ready to do that...

the service that Johnn used - is of interest to me also...
I wonder if I'd have to know how do DO something to also have a site like that on a location domain I have... I am techie challenged big time...

Yeah, tell me about it, lol.
Just realized Joomla 1.5 loads much slower than 1.1 and
Many plugins do not work yet with 1.5
So, I will have to reinstall template for Joomla 1.1 :disappointed:

The Joomla template sure does look nice. Although I'm a HUGE fan of magazine themes, what's best is magazine theme that can handle classified ads, real estate and restaurant reviews. Those are really the basics needed to turn the best profit on a city portal site. There is a massive need and if we all chipped in and sponsored a script or template, we will all benefit and turn a profit. Count me in!:whoo:

I just don't think Joomla and wordpress can handle it. Joomla is too difficult to maintain period and Wordpress can be challenging for beginners who are endusers.

Joomla can handle all that and then some.
All you have to do is find proper componets/modules.

By adding components/modules, you CAN do...
classified ads, real estate/restaurant listings/reviews,
ratings, comments, run forums, build community...

However, Joomla has stiff learning curve :(

Wordpress is very easy to work with.
This is main reason why wordpress is so popular.

I just started using a new wordpress theme I found on some domains and its returning good results, not much to it. I tested it on 5 domains that were averaging about 5-10 uniques a day, and only making about $0.50 a week parked. IN the first day all but one has made over $0.50 on adsense, and that means I beat my parking income in one day compared to what the domains made in 1 week.

Here is an example:

http://owentown.com

I just used auto updating feeds, and also put a spot where local citizens could submit ideas and content to me.

(not to advertise, but I have a young employee that Im teaching to program, and he said he will install wordpress, upload the theme, configure the rss, do the logo, everything for anyone's domains for $20 each or 10 domains for $100, so if you want some cheap labor, shoot me a PM and I will have him do your domains for you)

I am using Drupal to create my Kansas Community Site. Forums, Blogs, Business Directory and more coming soon.

It's a nice site! I'm a big fan of Drupal. What module have you used for it?

I'm using Joomla for my little geo domain Benevento and Sobi2 module for directory. Really easy to manage
