The original price was $199 I think - They just reduced to $149 and you get around 30% discount.
Make you use code Johnn

Let me check with Micheal. He promised to give our members here special price.

is the discount supposed to be -$105 or total price ?

I'm getting :

$149.00 USD

Enter coupon code:
Coupon discounts -27.00% of the base price:
-$40.23 USD

Single Domain License: $149.00 USD One Time Total: $108.77 USD

Total in Cart: $108.77 USD

is this correct?

Thanks for the help

Just talked to Michael - He still honor the $99 price (after using the Johnn code).

I just bought the script and will install in the next day or so.
I will post a review here soon. I have been talking to the owner Michael and DNF members will get discount if we use the promotional code. ($105 discount).

Use my name when check out and you should get $105 discount (discount code: Johnn)

John

Mind PMing me the site you made with it?

Anyone here use PHPCityPortal dot com?

Has anyone tested this script for more than 2000 occurrences? Meaning does it crash if you get a lot of traffic?

I installed it but did not have time yet to complete everything. Here is my thoughts:
- Overall the script worth every penny with all the features that a city portal site would need.
There are some small suggestions that I sent to the owner and he said he will implement in the next release:
- The top, left side and bottom banners are not easy to add adsense as they are encrypted.
- The user registration process required too much information (name, address, email, phone, income, etc....) I told him we only need email - address and phone number.
- There are some classified categories do not need to include a picture and they should be taken off as they will taking more space with dummy pictures.

Michael seems to be a nice guy. He took my suggestions and promised will implement in the next release. I do have the new codes (the 2 that I recommended above).
Support is second to none.

He still honor special price for our members here -($99) if you use my code.

Last - I don't think traffic will be a problem!
Thanks,

Thanks,
John

Thanks for the update John...Did michael give you any other examples of completed sites?

Maybe ones which modified the design and possibly coding (I could not tell from the site if it is open source)?

I would love a cheaper alternative to eDirectory...but do not want to have an inferior product.

I ordered the 3 pack and got a fourth free with that package.

here is my thoughts so far....

Positives:
GREAT techsupport
a good general script that so far is very functional and looks great..
there is supposed to be a new version in a few days!!

cons:
no customization really unless you want to hardcode it yourself...

Another thought I had was this:

Is there a thread we coudl start regarding sharing ideas/thoughts about promoting local sites. For example, Billy who promotes a town out in Washington is no threat to me here in Chicago, so why not get together and share ideas etc... Do I just start a thread if so where?

You can pay to "De-Brand" it which I think is like $40/site... I figured I would do so once I made a commitment to following the site out.

I've been lurking in this thread for a few weeks now.

The product looks interesting, but a glance through the features list doesn't show support for language localization - for my clients that need city portals, it would be important (essential) to be able to offer the site in non-English languages...

Is the language abstracted from the database, or are all terms hard-coded into the app/DB?

Cheers,
Rob

Take a look here MonteCarlo.me -> Real Estate Ads. I use Joomla Sobi2 with some personalization, they have plugin for featured listing, maps, payment listing with expiring classified etc.
