If your pricing is reasonable - since these are small businesses that had no insight whatsoever to secure their very own company names in .com - you stand a good chance to sell and make a good profit. So price accordingly and you have a winner. If you don't feel comfortable making a complete sales pitch over the phone, either find someone who does or type up a script first.

Great points Elliot. Too bad the person who started this thread has closed their mind to advice.

MudGrab - you should listen to Elliot - he is an industry expert and knows what he is talking about. Sometimes it's good to just listen, especially when it's you asking the question!

The domain was never mentioned as far as I can see ... Perhaps it is Generic.
There are far more Small "Mom and Pop" businesses out there using Generic names as their company/store name than major corporations. Which might explain why he states there are more than one using the name.

Cold calling can be pretty profitable - But just remember there are just as many people out there that hate Telemarketing as there are that hate Email Spam. Calls without a Decent "presence" on the phone can make you look less professional, So make sure you have your thoughts together before proceeding.
