The Dallas Cowboys!

The Dallas Cowboys football team will soon be the new owner of the domain name Cowboys.com. Monte Cahn from Moniker.com confirmed that the phone-in bid indeed came from representatives of the team. They were the only bidder. Most domain buyers would likely be leery to invest a sizeable amount for this domain. Watch for more news on this in the mainstream press.

This is the domain they should own. Congrats to the seller and the Cowboys!

That sum is quite small given the Cowboys' promotional budget. The bargain of the year. I wonder if the seller had prior talks with the team about buyout. I doubt it.

glad the domain came home :) I'm sad that I passed on the opportunity to buy it before TRAFFIC ... my main concern was WIPO from dallas cowboys LOL
Didn't he want 300k? He lost money by sending it to traffic.

Too bad this domain can't be put to better use, like something actually related to Cowboys, lol

F@%K, that's less than a week's salary for some of those star players! Agree with those above that if Dallas was in the hunt, seller did lose money by letting it go at auction. He should have hired one of Dallas' own player's agents to rep him.

Yes, it looks like a big sum, but not when you think of the money pro football teams throw around at players and advertising. A drop in the bucket to them for an asset they will use and keep forever.

Nice move for the Dallas Cowboys-->absolutely! Fake, pass, TD!!! Extra point good for 275K.

They won the trophy here. All I'm saying is that the seller could have gotten a lot more $$$.

The owner told a friend of mine he could buy it then for 300k or wait for the auction... i guess sending it to traffic is a way to get the name out there avaible for the cowboys to buy without having to approach them and risk any chance of wipo.

Yep great name.
Good and bad things about auctions though.
Get 2 bidders who really want it, you're in clover.
Who would another enduser be? Great for Dallas cowboys. I'm sure there are lots of other people who could use possibly, but you need 2 big boys in the same room at same time.
Either way, he won't be going hungry
