Across the board, including CVCVs, LLLL.nets are running about 5% of their LLLL.com counterparts ~ undervalued IMHO.

.COM is .COM. Its probably the only extension that you want a 'cute' name such as a meaningless but pronouncable CVCV. Certainly the only one that should be invested in unless it sees lots of use or is a common abbreviation or acronym. .NET would be more for someone who actually needs the name for an actual application. One might get lucky here but no great riches are likely to be had.

.net is quickly losing it's stigma as the unwanted stepchild. It is no longer strictly for internet applications, etc.

The name of the game in terms of enduser preferences is short, memorable, and dot com - IF you can afford it. If you can't afford, the same name in dot net is becoming a welcome option.

Premium and pronouceable LLLL.nets are a good long-term investment. They are not going to get any cheaper than they are now and in 1 - 5 years you should have a very nice ROI.
