IceHole,

The "latest" whois MUST be from the registrar where the name is. If you check all the registrars that catch, you can tell almost instantly who got it.

But for all the other WhoIs searches, it shows until updated, up to 72hrs to update.

any whois anywhere should have that , but it won't show which service got the name for the new registrant. No. It was snapped a couple months ago, it tried

No one would be surprised that BD got this one of the best two-word drops we have seen recently!

Another nice two-word drop these few days is MORTGAGESETTLEMENT.COM<by SnapNames/ULT>

In favor of beating the crap out of BD too. It's so bad I have basically given up trying to play the game.

It seems to me if they want to get a name and go gunning for it they will get it most all the time.

Bring on WLS to level the playing field against the likes of BD and ULT.

I can understand your point, but it also may make it even more uneven.

BD etc. have huge budgets to buy WLS subs.

But yes, they can get annoying, considering they cost us $ in snaps (BD/ult).

again.

Although it's of course very clear WLS will NOT level *anything*.

As to the "why is that" please make a search on DNF for the term "WLS".

Have fun.

I dont no that that was necessary. Perhaps you could edit before somebody quotes ya. I was just curious what the cost was going to be for a name, to reserve it or whatever. I dont want to discuss WLS either. WHen its here, its here.

It's part of the game. You win some and lose some, but you can only see from your side :).

BD and ULT are using Snapnames and Namewinner too. I don't see them complaining when got beaten by Enom Club Drop, Dropwizard, Godaddy etc . (OK they might complain, but I just don't hear them here.)

BD etc. have huge budgets to buy WLS subs.

I think they would loose their ass if they speculated to the degree that some people are talking about with the WLS. Buydomains doesn't buy snaps on a LOT of names that I go after. Right now they are paying $6-$8 for names on their private connections. The thing that's really paying the bills are the large names they get. I don't know their sales revenue but I'm sure they generate enough money to stay alive.

Think about this.... if buydomains was going to benefit from the WLS then why adamently oppose it? Think about that for a second! This is just a senario of a bigger fish eating smaller fish in the world of business and politics. Verisign will come out the winner and prices in the domain industry will rise. If the economy comes along with it then we'll be in business for some shaking and moving this summer!

You said it, chem. WLS will mean the end to all private connection deals, and that is indeed unnerving for the big boys trying to relook at loopholes in the system to outplay WLS without outplaying their pockets. Like it or not, WLS subs won't come cheap.

And let's petition to ICANN to fix the renewal fees at $35 a year per domain (or better yet $100 a year) regardless of registrar. No bulk discount or private deal is allowed. You'll definitely hear the screaming from BD and ULT as they hold hundreds of thousands of names.

NO!!! What good does this have on us anyway? Don't you agree with competition and free market?
