I would rather own Dating.com than Slots.com to be honest. I think it is a solid value at that price.

It's unlikely anyone who frequents the forum owns (or ever will own) any names like that in a million years so posts praising those top quaity 1 word com sales are probably maddeiing for most domainers to read about.

I think it is at the right price. Slots.com sale was remarkable end user sale.

to little, the amount of money that goes and is generated in Dating, the amount is pathetic. It should have sold for $2.5 million +

It should have sold for more though. Great names are being sold in auction recently.

Good price, although I'd rather develop it. It could easily make more than that the first year.

Too little. I should reach at least 3.5m to end user.

It will be interesting to see who bought it.

Perhaps it was an existing dating site.

The reason I say this is because there are so many dating sites in existence that to start another will take a hefty budget.

There is inherent value in the name itself being so easily branded.

But branding and promoting another site to compete with the well knowns won't be exactly cheap.

I've been seeing some heavy TV advertising for another new start up called ZOOSK!

There's a case of spending some very big bucks for primetime advertising to brand a name and a service.

It was a horrid buy 30-50 roi, I would be very suprised to see anyne but an existing dating company buy it and they apparently are willing to over pay. Nice sale for the seller but recovering $2M and then some is not easy. Long term buy lol

That's more or less what I was thinking.

Can you imagine paying that kind of money and redirecting to an existing site like eHarmony?

The conversion numbers coupled with the payout cannot possibly justify it for a non existing company who can afford to wait it out...and out and out making it a land grab more than enything else.

Online dating is very saturated. This might be a good lead generating site for existing dating networks.

Keep in mind that sites like Ashley Madison pay as much as $225 per signup, and residuals too if memory serves.

Assuming they can land that kind of money per signup, 1,750,000 / 225 = 7,777.78

7,777.78 / 365 = 21.31

They'll make their money back in a year assuming they can get 21 very good signups every day.

Seems impractical in my eyes... but it's a great name with a lot of potential in the hands of the right user.

First you assume your money saved is right, its not, you are incredibly high, drop it to $X-$XX, far from $200+.

Second the conversion rate of 20+ a day would require thousands of uv a day, not doable and since it is generic to the point it excludes any searches for a specified brand like eharmoney etc sing up rate would imo be lower.

Without going further its a multi decade buy.
