Make up your mind - you were criticizing his domain ten minutes ago!

The value of any domain is only as good as the business vision of the buyer. I had to change my paradigm to accomodate a hypothetical scenario for the purpose of making you understand

Well, I hope his post here got him some wisdom instead. As Confucious said "Value is in the eyes of the beholder"

Resellers often appraise 1/10 of the potential value of domains.

Nice name - lots of companies named Deluxe this or that. $500-$1000 if you can find one that will accept the .net.

No he didn't. Plato said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

Well he did ask for an appraisal on a forum largely populated by resellers..

Sometimes, too generic domains are less valuable than the specifically generic one.

This name for example, it doesn't give a clue up front to web surfers what they can find from deluxe.net. With coffee.net, users who type in are expecting to see coffee-related products.

Anyway, you had a good suggestion. But the owner has to convince the buyer to buy the name.

imho

true. it can worth thousand dollars, or just nothing. The point is how to convince the buyer believe that the name is telling his products.

Gone are the days when pure faith in the power of a name commands thousands of dollars. That's history.

Investors are more rational today.

The answer lies in providing business models for the name in question, and that may, could, should swing the big money over if the investor is impressed.

Domain reselling, imo, is no longer a quick ticket to instant riches. But a lot of resellers still cling to the past, to a miracle, to dreams of an easy way out. But end up, selling names that pay for far less than I earn off-line in one day. As -RJ- once said, "I'd rather be developing" I couldn't agree more.

I would give you 1.5k if you had deluxe.net and delux.net otherwise its worthless... its one of those names that you have to have the different variations.

ah yeah, didn't think of that. Pretty hard for someone to guess how the name is spelled if they hear it somewhere

I totally agree the above post.

But I believe the number of domain developers is much larger than resellers. The competition is also much stronger.

There is no eazy $$$, not even on mars.

When Internet gold rush is over, everything evens up.

The only winner will be the ones that offer something in need or in want and without much competition.

How hard is that? You tell me, you know better.
