I have used them for years and they have probably made me a boatload of money...a month or two ago my card was declined and I didn't renew my account until about a week ago to the $30/month membership. Yesterday I found out that they now limit the number of whois history inquiries that you can do...even with the $30/month account which I feel is a bit ridiculous. This is one of the only features that I use.

Had to cancel my account with them today, the only tool i use is the whois history tool and they just informed me that I am allotted 10 lookups per month...for $30/month? No thanks.

How do you plan to do due diligence on domain acquisitions to ensure that the owner is legit?

I have also gotten pissed off by this recently, for $49.95 they give you 100. I haven't upgraded yet.

EJS is right though, we need some way to do research.

Won't work on private registrations or on stolen names that were already flipped.

It was more of a joke. I used to use Domaintools a lot but I've found in the past year that I've been able to find the same information for free on the internet through Google, Intellius, etc...some paid, some free, but still think $30/month for 10 whois records is a bit ridiculous.

I tried it a while back, and found that most of their information was INCORRECT.

There also have been a few DDOS attacks on my servers from their servers, so they're on my banned list. I also see they keep using different blocks of IPs to try to get around that, so I guess they have been banned by a lot of companies.

That's a pretty serious allegation against them. Can your provide more information?

It's been a while, but I think at one point they issued something like 100,000 web page requests in less than an hour, that's when I decided to ban them.

I've been using it for what seems like forever, but I just signed up for the subscription....
I would prefer to see unlimited use for the base membership fee. I would imagine, if they did that, more people would pay for eternity. :)
