The best way to get your domain appraised is to get info/opinions/advice from people who have been in this industry for a while. (here)... Those automatic appraisals don't do the trick.

Yeah, forget about automatic domain appraisals. If you are looking for free appraisals you can make a post in the "Domains Appraisals" section here on DNF. There are lots of DNF users who can provide you with accurate and informative evaluations.

Different appraisers/appraisal services use different criteria.

IMHO the more criteria used in the analysis the more accurate the analysis is.

LeapFish.com is very interesting. This automated appraisal seems to rely heavily on domain name history and SE presence. Nothing wrong with that.

Of course the basics are: 1. extension 2. length 3. keywords. It all starts from there and additional criteria is used to arrive at the estimated value. The reason so many appraisers differ is that they use different criteria (above the basic 3) and place varied importance on the criteria used. If there was a standard criteria agreed upon with equal top-to-bottom importance levels and enforced by all appraisers then we would have closer estimated values given.

Yes, indeed, Sedo discusses the criteria for appraisal, and comes out with a value that has been much higher than leapfish. But then, it's PEOPLE who appraise best, thank goodness, not software programs.

This forum is one of the best places to get free appraisals. Leapfish.com is horrible. You can type in just about any random letters and it will tell you its worth something. Also, DONT ever use allfordomains.com, it is a huge scam. SEDOs appraisal is only worth getting if you have a really good domain name and you want to list it for sale for more than $10k because they require you to get their appraisal to be able to list it that high.
