Hello,
I searched for an available domain name on Domainsbot.com. It was listed as "Avaiable" on Domainsbot, but when I searched it in Goddady.com, it said "unavailable" and I was given the option to backorder it.
What does this mean?

someone may have registered it in the meantime. A Backorder means they try to gte it when/if someone lets it expire. I have foud that GODaddy backorders are rarely successful. Try Pool and Snapnames folr backorders. :)

But it still says it's available on Domainsbot even now. But Godaddy says it's unavailable.

Try to write a message to the email on the WHOIS info to see whether anybody would reply. But if the name has already dropped I wonder what is the matter with godaddy.
good luck,

I think Domainsbot lists domains as "available" when they mean "available to backorder".

every registered name is available to backoder so it shouldnt have been that way.
then just buy the domain from domainsbot if it says available. i am sure at some point of the registration it will show taken if the name is really taken
good luck

Hello,
I have another question.
Can someone else see what domain names I am searching on Godaddy.com? I found a domain that I wanted to register (and it was available), and a few hours later I saw that it got registered. I checked whois and saw that it got registered today.

This is a different domain from the one I was talking about above.

We already discussed that and yes, it`s not safe run whois search from Registrars websites but rather checking the appropriate registry ( different depending from the extension).

Regarding your first question, today I had the same problem:

I had to reg 2 .com, both 4 letters .com , Godaddy kept displaying domain NOT available so I tried NameCheap and I registered them.

I think GoDaddy is having technical problems.

Godaddy has done me like this several many times...I registered a name and a day or 2 later they send an e-mail saying that the name was already registered and that they will refund my money...that gets aggravating,:greensigh:

I dunno... Go Daddy seems to be a wee bit intense on the whole backorder thing. I tend to go for SnapNames or something like that, as others have alluded to.
