Looking forward to reading it. It's in my favorites already.

Thanks Doc. If you see an area there you would like to write about occasionally feel free to do so. Or you may see a need for a column I have not included yet. I would also welcome any ideas and contributions along those lines. It is easy to add new elements to the site.

I have already had several volunteers step forward, but need many more. My aim of all new content up by Jan. 1 may be overly ambititious but I would like to get it done as soon as possible. As columns are sent in I will post them to the site until all of the filler text is replaced. If I can get a couple of writers for each subject to write once a month, then we could have a new column every other week. When enough people become involved I would like to see the columns change weekly. Fresh content is what produces return visitors.

Duke, you really did a terrific job with the start of the publication Domain Name Journal at http://www.dnjournal.com! I am jealous in the way you not only identified the market (domain name industry), but also developed a professional looking site!

It looks terrific – I wish you all the luck.

Thanks William! Let me know if there is an area you would be interested in writing about.

For those who have their own web sites, also take note of our offer to give you a free classfied ad for your site in exchange for a Domain Name Journal link on your site.

Thanks Mole. You know of course that you would be a natural to write about .biz and .info. How about it? :)

I wouldn't like to spill blood on your site, duke

If you accept anonymous postings from me, then I would gladly contribute. But it looks like your site is for people willing to identify themselves.

That's an issue I should address. I would generally like to have columns bylined with a person's real name and with a digital photo - as part of the objective is to make the people in the industry better known. However, I recognize that there are some people who for one reason or another might not want to publish their photo and real name.

I thought for them it would be cool to still have a photo but one in which they weren't recognizable - like wearing a huge sombrero and sunglasses :) . It would add an element of humor that might be fun. I could see having to do that even with an occasional Cover Story subject.

As for the name, there are of course many instances in the mainstream press of people writing columns incognito or under pseudonyms. In order to get some of the inside info we would like to be able to include, it will be necessary to allow people to do that. So yes, you could write as let's say "The New Namespace Ranger" and wear a mask in your photo - but are you sure you can trust Tonto to keep your secret? :)

I played around with my new Adobe Illustrator and needed an example to test it so i made you a new header for DNjournal.com.
Feel free to use it - just make sure you set the width to 559 in your html.
Here it is:

Idea was to make it look like a respectable newspaper heading.

Hey beatz - thanks for your effort. Very stylish, but a little too difficult to read to suit my tastes. I have likened DNJ much more to a magazine than a newspaper, comparing it to a People or Entertainment Weekly for the domain business. It will focus more on personalities and opinions that news (though there is a news page generated through Moreover Technologies). Plenty of other sites handle daily news. I am looking to bring something different to the table.

By the way - we have a country code column planned. Would you like to write a few columns on .de, the upcoming .eu, etc? Being in germany you could give us a vaulable perspective on those and others you follow.

So i played around a little more, just for fun;

Updated header : http://nudiva.de/head.gif
Logo : http://nudiva.de/logo1.gif
Logo with shadow : http://nudiva.de/logo1b.gif

No prob if it doesn't fit your needs - was just for testing purposes.
If you wanna use the logo though, feel free to do so.
As for writing : At the moment i don't really got much time on my hands, but as soon as it's possible timewise i'll be happy to do so.

Using the quill in the latter two logos is a very nice touch - looks like you're getting the hang of Adobe Illustrater quickly!

Keep my invitation to write in mind - any time your schedule allows.

I still need many closet Ernest Hemingways to step forward and volunteer to write! Lots of subject areas to choose from - your favorite TLD, your domain investment style or special skill set (site development, type-ins, search engine optimization, affiliate program use). A guest editorial on whatever issue you would like to sound off on, etc. See all of the various subject areas on the site at http://www.dnjournal.com .
