I would go for .com, .net, .org, .info, .us (or what ever country code my business is in)...and most likely .mobi as well

I would just get .com and see how the concept pans out :)

Then when my concept gets huge, UDRP all the other bandwagoners for registering my idea! :greenconfused:

.com no matter what. Even many of the other extensions are redirected to the .com. It still is the most widely recognized.

.Net is a popular extension in Europe and a few other countries.

If it is international in scope, there are others to consider...
cn, de, net, org, us, mobi, info, co.uk

You can reg the heck out of something but that is money better spent at promoting your effort and your site. All registrars will try to convince you you need the entire alphabet of domain extensions.

I believe I read where the last count for ccTLD was up to 256.

If your project is successful, they'll find you no matter where you are or what you reg.

.eu is not just one country and it could become a very important extension in the future.

if you think your website can get big overtime, you should act wise and get the .net and .org. If it's in the US, .us might not be necessary as .com the most popular TLD there, not .us(unlike european ccTLDs)
