Noticed a swineflu.com thread (with new posts) was closed with this comment apparenty by a Mod or Admin: Reason thread was closed: Please don't dig up old threads. :)

The ironic thing is the OP was the one who dug up the old threads by his new postings so he was certainly OK with digging it up.

Just wondering what the rule is on "digging up old threads" since I see nothing really wrong with doing so in the interest of knowledge and ongoing discussion.

I think it was because it was NOT the OP who revived it.

But I find Stian's comments very funny.

When I looked at post one here, I think there was only one link posted, which was 2006 and Stain's comments.

O.P. doesnt own the domain anymore and comments/offers in the thread are lowering active sales in the offers wanted forum

1) They weren't serious offers
2) They were comments
3) Many instances people tried to purchase domains form threads that are years old - I'm sure we'd all love to be able to get some at prices from 2006.

While I do appreciate the humor and fun in it all if we let it run wild in one thread I'm sure others will complain when we delete their comments or close threads for similar reasons. I'm sure you'll appreciate actions like this when someone else tries to dig up your thread from years ago and demand that you sell them at those prices.

Have the fun in the gold discussion thread. :)

This is just another example of why we should delete sales and appraisal threads that are years old... I realize this is a sore subject that nobody in management wishes to discuss, but it needs to be addressed sooner or later.

this is basically why the thread was closed and why any similiar old sales threads will get closed.

since no comments are allowed in sales threads, then everyone who commented there....should be getting a warning point. :)

also, it's unfair to other members who have active threads going, when they get bumped down the que because of an old sales thread.

to raider:

that issue is dead.

i wouldn't quite agree with draggars statement that you quoted if only talking about sales threads.

in the time i've been a member here, i've only seen 2 or 3 times a year if that many, where someone would go back to an old thread and post sold for a domain...without noticing the date.

and i've never seen anyone try to force a sale from an old thread without getting laughed at for being d.u.h

though i do see where many people bump up old domains wanted threads and keep posting page after page, even though the OP never replies.
