I have faith in .mobi and believe its wiser to NOT SELL at the moment...wait for the BIG Global Marketing/MobileInternet push within the next two years...then (like somebody said in this forum) "Let them Beg for them"...:greencool: .....and then £££SELL SELL SELL !!!

But meanwhile, we develop these Mobies to generate an even bigger market...

Theres always great risk in any investment :eek:hwell: but rewards can be huge....:santa:

So where do you all stand at the moment?
Please discuss.

Dude,
time to just wait for a bit. sell the odd one by all means.
They sell off/auction the news.mobi, weather.mobi etc at the moment & will decide in January who gets, in relation to who can develop best too.
Once they are done, no doubt will make the news too, they will also start online auctions.
It will take months to get going. The sales will come.
2 years reg. on the clock. Not a problem!

I would say that the prices are dropping already, Par.mobi for $650 (a LLL word related to golf)??? If that had sold a month ago it would have gone for $xxxx's easy imo. Albums.mobi $750 sold. Both Sedo auctions. I agree - it's not the best time to sell now. Who knows when, or if, the market will pick up again!
Perhaps next premium auction, but then again, they are premium names, of course they will be sold at high values! You have rich domainers buying them incase they miss out on the ext. This doesn't mean that the average mobi domain value has gone up like everyone seems to think.
You should have sold sold sold while the prices were high in my opinion.

Your best bet now is to DEVELOP, DEVELOP, DEVELOP!!!

Another mobi - Consultant.mobi - everyone saying "this will go for close to 10k - It went for $3.6k, a big mobi overestimate. Realistic values are slowly creeping in imo!!!

there are many people that spent thousands of dollars during landrush to invest. Not just with mobis, it happened with any landrush before. Many domain names will be sold for "real" prices during next year. The hype will go away and .mobi will become another domain name extension. I am seeing mostly newbies here on the forum investing a lot into mobi names. I registered some .mobi myself, but I don't really like this extension. I didn't like
.ws for example, and I didn't participate in any landrush for this name, and i don't think I ever owned any of these. I don't mind to own .mobi names though. I understand that introduction of this extension is just another ICANN scam to make us spend more money on another pool of available names, but on the other hand it it doesn't really matter for me what extension I am selling or buying as long as I make money.

I think .mobis arent gonna go anywhere. places like yahoo.mobi, google.mobi already transfers traffic to mobil.yahoo.com or something like that. The .coms can already sense if your using a mobile phone or not. ESPN.com , if I type that in in my phone it goes to the mobile espn.

"Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to do nothing at all..." Sage investment advice that applies to .mobi I feel. As I've said before we all need to develop what we can in order to contribute to .mobi marketing and consumer awareness... if you can't then just stash them for the time being unless you get an offer from someone who can develop... will only benefit your remaining portfolio in the long term...

Flat-rate internet pricing is coming from the providers in 2007, that'll help...

I reckon you'll see the first .mobi on a London bus in Spring/Summer 2007... possibly part financed by mTLD as I'm sure they'll be open to some kind of revenue share if the numbers look good...

That day you'll find me in the nearest pub ordering a bottle of Dom! :p

It didn't really help that the 2 mobi auctions at Sedo ended in the middle of the night.

I am the seller of PAR.mobi and I do not know why the sale ended at around 5:30 am est. One lonely snipe took the sale :(

Think, I don't understand, you think PAR.mobi is some kind of premium domain
and should be sold for more than 650$? I think it is a fair price for this name, or
am I missing something? what PAR means?

No it's not a "premium name" but it probably would have sold for a few more clams had it closed during normal business hours and not in the middle of the night.

Would you like it if your auction closed in the wee hours of the night when you were expecting it to close during business hours?

The problem is that you are looking at it interestingly. You think that when the business hours are only when you are awake. What about Europe? I think people from there invested a lot more in MOBI names that us in North America. :). When I sell on ebay something locally I want my auction to end during the day, but does it make any difference for the domain names?

I understand what your saying and maybe I wouldn't have got anymore for it at a different time.

I appreciate that we are talking about a global market.

However, I will make sure if I do other Sedo auctions that they end during the business hours I am familiar with in the future.

I placed bids in 3 fairly large auctions at Sedo. I got outbid on all of them and all were during US day time or ealry evening rather than middle of the night.

I was there to bid at the close of these auctions. Had they been at 4 in the morning I doubt I would have been bidding.

My guess is many do not realize the auction is closing in the middle of the night and come back the next day and name is gone. It's happened to me before.

I think .mobi owners should wait unless they get a particularly good offer and need the cash, my reason being the major investors of the domain are big multi million pound companies, and one thing i know for sure is they would not bet on a lame horse! They would only lay down the cash if there were a sure bet on a decent return on their investment. Saying that it could all fail, but to prevent this the wheels of the PR machine needs to start turning now, and the .mobi big boys need to start spending the large amounts of revenue on advertising and getting the saying 'dot mobi' into the publics head! Or else there won't be success! Afterall if the public never knew about .coms there would be no internet!

But i am bias as i own a good $5000 in .mobi's and want it to succeed, but you have to speculate to accumulate as they say!

hey Think, I was the initial bidder on par.mobi when it got taken into auction for $600. Congratulations on the sale though, you still got a decent price. Could have been a lot more though if you hadnt taken it into auction so early. I agree that the ending time of the auction hurt the price. I probably would have placed more bids if it was at a different time.

I am sorry we didn't hook up here.

Sedo is charging $150 for the sale. A bit steep in my mind as it is the same push as any other domain.

I had you at $600 and 3 others at $500 so Figured I'd put it up and see where it'd end up. I really thought with 4 people showing interest it would go for a little more than it did but it's still a decent sale

I never even contemplated that the auction might not end during daylight hours my time.

My mistake :)

Thank you for the vote of confidence on the missed bids.

Cheers

I think with 4 bidders it was more than reasonable to take it into auction and expect more, especially with all the other good .mobi sales happening there. Next time it could turn out differently. Still, you're well into profit with that sale and have some funds to move into something else!

How is the auction end time determined at Sedo?

I own 280 mobi's. Invested $ 12,000
I Sold 6 names for the total amount of $ 12,200

I am willing to sell 1/3 of my portfolio ASAP, so I have money to devolop the other 200 names. You could say: "Wait wait wait", but if .mobi succeeds I will be rich with my remaining 200. If .mobi fails I have a little profit.

My advice:
- Sell 1/3 of your portfolio ASAP and wait with the other 2/3.
- The best time to sell is after a "mTLD premium auction" or "RFP $ XX,XXX announcement"

Last advice: DEVELOP!

_______________

LOL: I forgot to mention my parking revenue: $ 11,77 in two weeks on Sedo

So my profit is 211,77
