Thank you, guys, for your encouraging words on the buy...:)

The link's getting a 'Server not Found' message for me, biggedon.

If its yours, any chance you could fix it, please? I'd love to see it...

.

He was just describing a cool hack for your domain ;)

Congrats from me as well!

Yes Congrats on the buy, being a 1 letter dot anything should pay off with time. E.biz is a sweet domain no matter how you look at it, but a little shocking to see such high prices in this domain market.

if you set your nameservers to whatever ppc you are using...any subdomain that you type in your browser will resolve.

it won't show a different parking page than m.biz, but it will resolve

or you can set-up a multitude of subdomains in a hosting account.

I didn't know that....And, indeed, it does...For any parked domain, that's actually quite cool.

Yes, I did know that...When I get control of this domain - as you say, (literally) unlimted opportunities.

Great investment ? Unless you're an end user I am not so enthusiastic about it.

If it's great for a end user, then it's great for a end user seller as well no ???

I'm not sure they are easy to flip for a profit as they did not sell for cheap IMO.

For $66k, you can get some really good domains right on this forum that combined can easily get you much bigger ROI than e.BIZ.

My favorite part of this ridiculous waste of money is the fact that the new owner of G.biz is expecting to instantly flip it for $15k. Am I missing something, or am I correct to say that if we had a load of money to waste on crap domains we would have bid in the original auction?

Great stuff, DTalk. You've obviously thought through your decision.

I remember a podcast that Monte did with Marc Ostrofsky (who has a large holding of generic .biz domains) where he makes the point that it takes one or two large corporations to start building a brand around .biz before an eventual tipping point is reached.

[Disclosure: DNCredit.com has provided funding to a few .biz domains and I hold some personally]

Jon

Okay...I'll 'fess up to buying M.biz...

Actually, initially, I wasn't going to bid on these.....But, I changed my mind....Here's my thinking re buying it for 15k:

I agree, of course, single-letter .biz has NO prospects for parking revenue...Nor, likely to have much prospect in terms of domainer reseller profit value (tho, who knows, eventually?) etc etc...ie the easier avenues for a ROI...

So, to leverage them, they HAVE to be branded. Not everyone's cup of tea......But, imo, some (eg e.biz) - but, not all - of these single letter domains offer huge opportunity.

For me, M.biz, was one that has good possibilities...:

* Its a gTLD

* 5 MILLION exact Google Keyword Search Tool results for the term, "M", per month....So, people search for the term, in huge numbers

* Over 3 BILLION Google returns for the term, "M"....So, possible end user sale.

* The term could represent any number of vast lucrative markets:

- Mobile
- Money
- Music
- Movies
- Marketing
- Management/Managers
- Marriage
- Motorsport

etc etc

Google doesn't care what the extension is, if you develop a domain...And, in this case, the 'biz' potentially works for it, imo....If one is considering a brandable, then M.biz is as good an opportunity as any, imo.

I guess, in the end, I reckoned it was worth paying 15k for this opportunity - rather than what, say, $15k might buy me in .com, or any other gTLD.

Here's an example of an outfit, for example, that brands itself as 'M.Net' (for 'Mobile) - and, is on the front page of Google, in Australia - tho, its url is 'mnetcorporation':

Home | m.Net Corporation.com

I know not everyone agrees this is a good investment....But, I'll see if I can make something of the opportunity it affords...

e.biz rocks! Hopefully it will be huge and m.biz will be good too. Don't see any hope for .biz in general though, bit of a slang term.

Well time will tell I guess, one thing for sure we are in a hard market. There some great names out there going pretty cheap, I was a little shocked to see e.biz going so high.
