Hi - we have a e-card Site www.grusskarten.info in Germany, and want to cover the US market also. Thus we bought e-card.us and e-cards.us for 6000$. Regarding Google.com e-cards is more often searched than ecards . What do you think of the names ? Fair price ? Thanks for all comments & Greetings from Germany; Marco

With the hyphens, it looks to me like too high a price today, but it could look like a bargain in a few years. Thank you for the information. It is a nice piece of evidence confirming what many of us predict - that a resale market for .us will be developing soon. I actually just made my first aftermarket .us purchase over the weekend. Your note also confirms what Bidawinner has been saying - that companies outside the U.S. will be in the market for .us names to identify their U.S. operations. Good luck to you!

Hi - thanks for the replys. We in Germany also discuss the .us since the beginning, and I know some that have really great names : flirt.us, cab.us, ink.us and shoppingmall.us all belong to either germans oder austrians. We think that in 2-3 Years those domains will be almost as important as .us. Remember: here in Germany the .de is worth even more than .com! It´s natural, I think, to search for the internetsite on the local market. And you guys just have the NO1 market in the world !!

That´s why I think e-card.us and e-cards.us is a bargain. I think it´s not cheap really, but we don´t buy it to sell it again, but to have a good name for corporate branding. And since e-cards.com / e-card.com are unaffordable or not even for sale, the e-card.us and e-cards.us are a good choice.

Anyhow: good luck to all .us owners - I think it´s a sexy TDL and will be a very successful TDL in the future !

Regards and a good new year to you all - Marco

Marco, you have far better insight into the .us market than most Americans do! I am fully aware that .de is the second most popular extension in the world, completely blowing away everything but .com. .us represents an even bigger market - the biggest in the world as you noted. I don't seen any way it can miss. Many other overseas buyers with U.S. presence see this as well. Can't quite figure out why so many Americans have trouble seeing it, but I hope they remain deaf, dumb and blind until I am through picking up the names I want!

Duke ... Congratulations!!
Your new friend, Marcope, was made to order. A new ally in defense of the ".US" extension. Keep up the good work (p.s. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of its potential)! :)
Happy New Year and Good Luck.

Good news for the .us people on the forum, myself included :)

I just finished 325 new regs, at $5 each!

Next goal? Find real buyers like Marco, the end-user, who has $6,000 to pay for 2 names, and is happy with the results.

Getting the names is the easy part, marketing is tough, but with the occasional pleasant surprise.

Happy Holidays!

A $6,000 sale for two .us names (hyphenated at that!) will tend to catch your attention!

Well - we don´t spend 6000$ every day. We NEEDED those special domains since we already have ecards.info and ecards.at etc. in Europe. Thats why those domains were so precious to us. I wouldn´t buy any .us for that much money at the moment - in fact I have some good one myself: hotpants.us, shipment.us, object.us, homos.us, rhymes.us .. and some more. But without project I wouldn´t have paid 6000$ for those anyhow. It´s just there is only one e-cards and we needed that one - including the singular ! Well - good trade next year on domains to you all ! Regards, Marco

It's hard to get the domains in pair (singular and plural).
And because you buy these names for branding and not for resaling, I see you don't pay too much.

Make us some Happy New Year Card, will you. :D

Good luck Marco and Happy New Year.

A lot of big sales are based on that very fact Marco - the names are critical to the buyer. e-cards does get fantastic search numbers - over 1 million in Overture and 2.5 million in Google! It is a high price to pay in today's .us market, but as I said, in just a few short years it could end up looking great. In any case if you have success in the U.S. market with those domains names, the cost as a percentage of your business revenues will end up being inconsequential. Let us know when your .us site is up. Again good luck!

New names now on my list, have a look...

Anyone that says great .us names can't be found, hasn't looked.

Dave

You are racking up some superb names there Dave. If .us catches on like many of us expect, you are going to be Bill Gates Jr.! Good luck!
