to "each" his own...

I think BFD and Ult are on a rampage to own everything. I think it was Ultsearch that just paid $12,500 for bedbathbeyond.com, and those two are grabbing up everything they can that goes to pool.com auction.

It seems as though they are trying to push us out of the market by using force of dollars. They buy all the good stuff, and then they even bid up the little stuff to outrageous prices on top of that. So, IF you win an auction; you've probably paid too much by the time they've had their way with it

Cheers,

BD would want it, they got every.com from NW last year, then they will own each and every .com

What the problem is?

If they want to spend that much on any domain, and are the highest biddy, why shouldn't they get each name?

Hey Steen,

No offense, but I don't like monopolies. I want fair opportunity for everyone. Not just for the ones that were lucky enough to have had money in the beginning to get to have ALL the money now.

I had the insight back in the day to buy up domains, but -at the time- I had no money to do it. I had things like ...survival, bread, water, etc to worry about.

I don't really see BD or Ult as a monopoly.

Pool would be a closer conmparison, but I don't see them as a monopoly either.

I agree. It's all a monopoly.

Whatever it is BD is doing, its probably with monopoly money. What you bid is never what you pay, maybe 20%-25% of the bid amount, so I guess at $8,000 bid, its probably still a hefty $2,000.

Of course, I could be wrong. :-D

I reckon ya right Mole
The only monopoly is the money
It is NOT real money
IMHO, there is nothing to prevent them obtaining a massive wholesale discount on what they bid
AND there is the commission on their own previous buys

Maybe its not a straight discount, but an incremental one.

First $1,000 (Your 25% affiliate discount only)
$1,001-$3,000 (+30%)
$3,001-$5,000 (+40%)
$5,001+ (+50%)

But to qualify, you need to guarantee/deposit a minimum spend of say $20,000+ a month.

Volume buyers always have the clout to negotiate such things in every industry.

The auction site always wins both ways.

Each.com = $20,500

I know I pay full price on all my auctions and I've had some big ones. But, I suppose it's possible that other people cheat the system by signing up through their own affiliate links and negotiated bulk discount rates...

Yeah, watching this one as well. It was up to $800 during the first hour of bidding... now over $20,000. I am sorry, but this is crazy. If i had billions, i would have never paid over $1,000 for it.

Dang. Wish I had known they took that view earlier. It sickens me to see how much money that would've saved me.

Anyway, I have an old affiliate link (before the cut); but I think it's still only 10% commissions.

So, would I click through my affiliate link and then set up a new pool user?? Or, is their a way to use my existing login with the discount?

Trying to save money like that (through aff link) seems like too much work.

I believe you must use a new account each time :(
