Today, one of my sites was banned by Google adwords because they checked my link and got hit by a pop-up. This site was using eNom URL forwarding.

Hello ______,

Thank you for advertising with Google AdWords. After reviewing your
account, I have found that one or more of your ads or keywords does not
meet our guidelines. The results are outlined in the report below.

----------------------------------------------
Campaign: 'Campaign #2,' Ad Group: '________'
----------------------------------------------

AD TEXT:

---------------
---------------
---------------

Action taken: Suspended - Pending Revision
Issue(s): Pop-Up
~~~~~~~~~
---------------------
Please read below for definitions of the issues I found:
Pop-Up: Our Editorial Guidelines state that we do not allow links that
generate pop-ups when users enter or leave your site. We consider a
pop-up to be any window, regardless of size or content, that opens in
addition to the original window. Our experience is that pop-ups
decrease the efficiency of the information seeking process and
discourage users from clicking on ads. Once you remove the pop-up from
your site, please reply to this email to request review.
---------------------
If a keyword has been disapproved, your ad(s) will no longer be
displayed for searches on this keyword.
If an ad has been suspended, please edit it based on our suggestions,
and then save your changes to automatically resubmit the ad for review.
We're confident that these changes will improve your ad performance and
increase your return on investment.
Our goal is to help you reach your target audience and maximize your
investment. All ads are reviewed by AdWords Specialists to ensure that
our advertisers create successful, high-impact advertising in keeping
with our program's Editorial Guidelines.
For more information about our ad requirements, please read the AdWords
Editorial Guidelines at:
https://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html
Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have
any further questions or concerns. We look forward to providing you
with the most effective advertising available.
Sincerely,
The Google AdWords Team
This was confirmed by a member in another forum which said, quote/unquote
"In case you hadn't noticed, eNom is now placing popups on domains that they are forwarding. Please register your complaints with them if it bothers you as much as it does me.
I had it confirmed by eNom's support department and by a programmer who works for eNom."
What the %(*&^(^($ is happening to eNom?
If they are doing pop ups. Then, I will have to start using dns setting instead of forwarding.
And, If this is the case. I will be annoyed.
However, experimenting with a couple domains (12) that I am forwarding. No popups' happened.
Mole, can you post one of your domains, so we can see what you are talking about?
I had the same problem with one of my domains using Enom’s forwarding. My feeling is that they only install pop ups on high traffic names, which this one was. My reasoning behind this is that only one out of the 30 or so names using their forwarding system only one had a pop up installed, and it just happened to be my highest traffic name.
I just transferred the name away from Enom today and the problem has disappeared.
Cheers
Rob
Mole, I didn't get a pop up with wlsQuack.
And, I don't use a popup preventer.
Therefore, they adjusted the system. Or, it is not on all of the time. ????
It is now confirmed that eNom is gulity of inserting popup ads for URL framed forwarding without due notification to domain owners. As a result, one of my sites got banned by Google.
I would like to publicly state that this is a totally shameful act by eNom and I am preparing to move my domains enbloc next month because eNom has proven untrusthworthy. They may want to ruin their own reputation, but please don't ruin mine. eNom, in typical fashion, will NOT respond to your email. So don't sweat it, time to move.
I will be posting a warning about this practice on DNJournal.com's Lowdown section today. Doing this without prior notification to domain owners is inexcusable.
Why use framed URL forwarding anyways?
is enom's frame forwarding with popup only for selected domains??
It appears to be random assignment at the moment, but probably for those they think have good traffic.
mole, if a domain has good traffic you surely don't depend on Enom's frame forwarding or DNS.
I would suggest parking these names at Fabulous in the meantime until they need to be transfered. You can just change nameservers to Fabulous and then use their forwarding to foward to whatever site you are now. Doesn't even need to be regged with them. (If you can't tell im a huge fabulous fan :p)
Fabulous have a whole set of fabulous tools. They have good traffic reports, include many different kind of revenue programs and you can even put a domain for sale sign.
So many functions...Fabulous. But need some times to learn to use those functions.
