In case you guys haven't heard yet, enom has opened their club drop again. Their round-robin policy for contended domain names seems to leave things open for major disputes but we will have to see how things unfold.

Check out their FAQ below:

What is Club Drop?
Club Drop is a service offered to eNom customers that registers expiring domain domains. Every day thousands of domain domains expire and become available for purchase. These domains were not renewed by the prior registrant. A small and energetic market exists around registering these domains as soon as they become available.

How does it work?
After signing up, you will be granted access to the Club Drop website and tools. Everyday you can input a list of domains that you want to register. eNom does the rest. Any domains successfully registered on your behalf will appear in your account and you will receive a confirming email.

How do I know which domains are expiring?
There will be a downloadable list of available domains on the Club Drop website five days prior to the drop date for a domain. eNom will not attempt to register any domain not available for that day's drop.

Am I guaranteed to get every domain on my list?
No. The demand for some domains is very intense.

How many domains can I input into my list each day?
Currently the number is 25 per day per membership, it is subject to change.

What if I want to attempt more than 25 per day?
You can buy multiple memberships. The dialog box for inputting domains expands to accommodate multiple memberships.

If I put the same domain on my list 25 times will it make it more likely I'll get it?
No. We will scrub your list of any duplicates.

What if another member wants the same domain?
Contended domains are awarded by account priority. Priority is determined by membership age and prior domain awards. The longer a membership has been active, the higher the priority the account has. Once an account is a awarded a contended domain, the priority of that account starts over. The same is true for new accounts. The priority of a new account is similar to an account that was just awarded a domain. There is no loss of priority for
registering domains names that are not contended.

Will I increase my odds for getting a domain if I submit it from multiple accounts?
Yes, you can duplicate your list across accounts.

How much does it cost?
$99 per 25 domain account per 30 days. Your domain cost remains the same.

What happens after 30 days?
When you attempt to input a list of domains, you will be prompted to renew your membership.

Do I have to be a reseller?
Yes. This service is only available to resellers.

I mean say ENOM does get the name. Well just think how many other people put it on their list also (assuming it's even that good). So instead of being assured you go the name and paying for success you are only assured a chance at a lottery to play in a lottery. Am I looking at this wrong? I mean ENOM doesn't get more bandwidth than other registrars do they?

That is exactly what doesn't make sense. Priority is determined by age and then domain awards? Oh well, hope someone has the correct explanation for this.

Priority is determined by membership age => Trying to get you to sign up right away

prior domain awards => ambiguous to say the least

Sounds kinda like a pyramid....

Oldest account gets the goodies

Newest has to work his way up

But in most pyramids...the new guy promised the riches is usually Scr*wed in the end.

Not meaning to imply anything underhanded as I know little of the program.

But it seems to me that your odds would be better or at the very least equal using NW snap DK DW thefirstname ect.

Am I misunderstanding the concept behind club drop?

This rule makes no sense.

I do not why ENOM thinks out such a "stupid" plan?

I thought about all of the above issues but decided to try it out anyway. I can't see it beating snap or namewinner but it's worth a shot.

I'll be submitting my first 25 today (May 1st) so we'll soon find out if it is worth it.

They will probably aim their power at some really good names to get people all excited about it. Club Drop dropped off the map a long time ago. Let's see if they can resurrect it and give others a run for their money! :D

The oldest accounts in the club get the highest rank, but only to begin with. When they are awarded a name, their rank returns to zero, they give way to the person below them, and they have to work their way up again. The oldest account thing is only there to 'seed' the system in the initial period, and I guess it's an incentive for people to sign up quickly and get the club started.

For example, if there are 100 accounts, and over a period of one month they catch 100 domains, each account will get one domain. Give or take the fluctuations of life, but that is the idea.

The round robin system seems very fair. Everytime someone gets a name that another member wanted, they get put at the end of the rank and so on.

It's brilliant!

Agreed - I like it :)

Hey -RJ- have you noticed your name appears as black and not "platinum" in the member online list? Must be the hyphen..

Or the poodle on your head..

How do you know it is fair?

Can you see other's ranking?

If not, it means not transparent, it means dark, it means you HAVE TO trust it.

Beware of the dark side. Anger...fear...aggression. The dark side of the Force are they.

When 900 years old you are, trust in eNom will you? Hmmm?

I am sure enom tried to figure out the best way to work the club drop. I have no concerns about the pecking order at the present time. I have been using enom for quite a while and have nothing but good things to say. Customer service has been very good and unlike several other registrars they have not lost, deleted, transfered or otherwise screwed up one of my domain names or transfers.

Only time and $99 will tell.

worthless..signed up with them didn't get more than 2 and now i am just hoping that some others did not go to another member because the way they have it setup for priority makes this a failure. just waiting till tommorow for the registry to update.
