because the way they have it setup for priority makes this a failure
It does give them the ability to make some use of their RRP connection for profit since people are scripting them anyways. And regardless of whether they catch names or not they have created a somewhat constant income stream and also an afforable way to dropcatch several names a day.
I was highly surprised they did not create a bidding system like when the US TLD was launched (like NW and others use) but I guess with one RRP connection instead of 3-4 this strategy works best for them.
Question Posed: Do large registrars have larger bandwidth allotments to the registry?
They not only make money on the subscriptions, but from people refilling their accounts. I will have to say that there will sooner or later be some lucky SOB that grab a quality name like offshore.com using their system and then everyone will be like wow....only a matter of time but not that likely seeing as even dropwizard and others are struggling at this time in some respects against the likes of snap, namewinner, & buydomains (the big three we could call them).
It's all a "crap shoot" though in the end as many say.
