Excuse me ?!

I recall that we had a tagline under "Appraisals" that kinda said "Don't WASTE your money on 'professional' appraisals"

And that was for a reason.

It's kinda common knowledge amongst domainers, especially amongst folks here that there is no thing as a "professional" appraisal - now by implementing such a section just for the money you are actually hurting DNF's credibility more and more.

That´s a VERY good point.

Anyway, I love this community, BUT I thought the platinum fee was enough.

This was said when paid membership was introduced but as we currently experience this was not the case.

Has anyone seen the advertising prices and the amount of advertisements? I think the income off of DNF is quite large.

Could you guys who keep talking about all the expenses of DNF please elaborate on this? I dont see how your making $5,000 or so on advertisements a month doesn't cover the cost of things.

I don't think it is for the owner of the business to explain to us about his costs or advertising revenue - I certainly don't expect to have to explain those details to the customers of my business.

I think you deserve free membership in the exclusive forums just for having that word in your vocabulary. ;-) ...but then again, you did misspell it. http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?va=sycophant

I had to look up that one!

I have zero interest in paying a large sum of money for the exclusive forum, so I am not going to complain about it.

However, can you PLEASE remove the exclusive forums from our view altogether? If platinum members cannot read the forums, what is the point of having them there like a gigantic banner ad.

Again, I'm not complaining about your introduction of it, as most site owners will know, you can do what you want with your site. But I do detest having to scroll past something I have no intention of ever using.

Could this be done, or am I the only one that finds that annoying?

"...The price he paid for this forum was astounding."

Are you sure? The forum was offered for sale in June 2002 for less than $5,000.

Prior owner before DCG likely paid near that price at the time.

By looking at all the ads it appears that is only approx' 1-mo ad revenue now!

you're assuming that DNF is actually getting the ad rates they are asking for.

I do as well. For a forum with currently 5 members, it should be either hidden or at the bottom. For user friendliness, the most popular stuff should be at the top of a web page. I wouldn't mind maybe just a collapsible banner if that's all that showed, but nothing I want to see is above the scroll line.

I am not revealing any info that Adam has disclosed with the expectation of being kept secret.

Adam offered $60k + paid admin jobs to the mods of Domain State -- admin jobs to run both forums!

I believe based on other info, which establish a roof to the possible price paid, the approx. price of dnf was $100k.

thats amazing...greg bought it for $5000 or something like that....

personally, I'd have bought a Porsche instead of DNF if I was Adam....lol

anyways, he is making that cash back quickly - although I do commend him for lowering the exclusive price a little...

Is there anything Adam wont buy? (besides fast-autos.com, lol)

Really? How did you hear about that?

Also, how did dnf value go from $5000 to $100,000 in less than 1-yr when the number of members did not really increase that much (it may have approx' doubled) since this forum was offered for sale June 2002 for only $4,500?

the problem is for Adam, about 75% of the 'advertisers' are his own companies (dnanalyzer, autohits, domainsnaps) so he isnt getting paid for those. There are a few other advertisers, but they can't be making Adam more than $2000 per month.....can they?

I was under the impression Platinum members had access to the exclusive forums for the first 30 days.

Did this change? I just made an attempt to look but was about to see nothing.

Just curious.

Nothing has changed except the opening day. As you can see, all mods and admins are clanking around inside Exclusive, to test it, de-bugify it, and especially to familiarize ourselves with the rather amazing content ALREADY placed there, which is GROWING by the hour!

To me, Exclusive really has a different feel. And the moderation will be quite strict, so as to always keep it very much in the professional realm! Word has it, that there will be some very high rollers and VIP corporate reps from all over the world in there, and we always want to make sure our fly is zipped and our shoes are shined, LOL!

I believe the Estimated Day of Arrival is Tomorrow! Personally, I can't wait!

Is this thread about Exclusive Memberships, or how much Adam paid for dnforum ... who cares?

You've noticed how forum topics are discussions in movement. It originated from me reasoning Adam has his justifications for implemmenting Exclusive. Nothing too digressive to be worth noting.
