For Sale Expiring Domain Software - Which are good?

I was searching for software tools to automate the task of searching for expiring domains.

Here's what I have come across so far.

http://www.popular-domains.com : Seems to be the most popular so far. Tells if domain is in yahoo and gives link popularity in a few Search engines.

http://yahtool.com : Tells you if domains are listed in yahoo.

http://fallendomains.com: Tells you if domains are listed in yahoo, looksmart, dmoz and gives link popularity. Looks pretty good and the price appears fairly decent compared to popular domains.

http://www.domain-retriever: Looks like the new kid on the block with the latest functionality and up to the minute updates of the list. However not a single testimonial on their web site. No name of the author/promoter either?

They are disposing this in huge dutch auctions on ebay. Domain registered only in the last 2 month. Most expensive of the bunch + site has lots of banner ads which is not doing anything to raise my confidence in this firm.

Well so far these are the names of the software tools I have come across. What do the gurus suggest? Has anyone used any of these before? What is your opinion?

I am particularly interested in domain-retriever.com. Are they legit? Does anyone have it?

I am interested in any and all opinions and user reviews of these tools and any others I might have missed. I am fairly new to this whole game and am looking for domain names which are listed in yahoo/dmoz/looksmart for traffic.

Thanks for reading.

Do you have a link to domain-retriever's auction on Ebay. Please PM if you do, thanks

I think I know of another up and comer on the block which is offering services far better than any of these.....I'm just keeping them underwraps for now.

No, I don't have their ebay link, I just did a search for "domain yahoo" (both the terms with no quotes and came across their auction.

Hmm so there is one more top secret software huh?

We're pretty legit. And our software speaks for itself.

Our customers keep it a secret because they know what it would not hold much value if we mass distributed it. A lot of the big domain resellers on eBay (those selling names with traffic and search engine listings) are in fact, our customers.

If you want testimonials, or better yet if you want to talk to our clients let me know. [email protected]

Domain-Retriever is a new name for a new product. The software has been around for a while but has never been advertised for obvious reasons. It was previously sold under a different name to only a dozen or so clients.

We have begun SMALL sales. LocalWhoIs, DNForum, eBay and NameCheap are selling LIMITED copies. We are limiting sales to comply with our clients requests.

Dan, the owner of this forum has our software too. Ask him what he thinks of it.

Please, feel free to forward all questions to [email protected].

Thank You!

Dan, first off this is a great forum. I just came across it today and already learnt a lot just by browsing through different threads.

When you get a chance I'd appreciate your thoughts on the software.
Thanks.

Omni,

Thanks for the tip. Looks like you're doing some research for us.

We are fully aware of AllTheWebs terms of use agreement. We are also thinking of replacing AllTheWeb with a different search engine based on client request.

It appears that almost every other expired domain name is listed in AllTheWeb, and those names hold very little value.

Thanks,
Luc L.

From your filtering screen shot it does not appear that I could enter a LIST of important keywords and return ONLY domains that have at least one of those keywords in the title.

I can't believe no software package exists that allows you to do this. Having to type in one keyword at a time - then search to check domains that have that word - is the biggest time-consumer in this business.

How come no one offers a package that lets you enter all of your important keywords (and keeps them in the program), then lets you click a button to conduct a search that returns only domain names with one of your words ANYWHERE in the title? That is the package I will buy. Surely some one can offer this.

Duke,

We actually did have a feature that filtered out domain names based on multiple keywords. Unfortunately, our clients complained that it slowed down the loading of the lists and that it was not necessary so we replaced it with a different feature.

You are probably the 6th person to recommend it, so we'll put it in in the next update.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I might take longer but the time saved isolating names I am really interested in would be well worth the short wait. I am on broadband anyhow as are nearly all serious domain hunters so I can't see download time being a big problem.

If it slowed the complainers down - who was holding the gun at their head forcing them to enter multiple keywords? They were free to use the filters in any way they want. I'm not surprised a group too dense to figure that out would say that such a valuable feature is unnecessary.

Glad to hear you are planning to restore the feature. At that point I will be interested. I wouldn't buy any software package without that feature as that would be the biggest timesaver I can imagine.

Martfin,

We're not talking about perl scripts here, we're talking about software which any Windows 98/2000/XP, etc user can use on
their system.

Scripts are great, and much faster then software mainly because they run on powerful servers with super fast connections. Our clients always complained about seeing the same list of expired names as hundreds of other subscribers with the script type of site.

With DR each user extracts their own expired/on-hold names using their own resources and whatever clever way they can come up with.

I'm not saying scripts are bad, I'm saying they're different from software and should not be compared.

Thanks,
Luc L.

It is probably the best software for finding link popularity, I rate it higher than Popular Domains. Domain Retriever comes with lists you can directly download and import (soon to expire names, on hold names, and expired domains) which is really useful. Also it's well written and has a good amount of options. It's great for finding soon to expire domains with high link popularity so you can go after it. It does exactly what YahTool does of course and all the extra (Yahoo, and dmoz, and the rest).

Anyways if any of you decide to buy it, use the link on the top banner on this site, which will make me some referral cash ;)

Nope. The software was called EDNL (Expired Domain Name Locator), and I'm almost positive no one on this forum has heard of it. Only 33 people have it and they do not like telling others it exists.

Thanks,

Well.

I have a software that will do exactly this.

This program hasn't ever been publicly available as it has excusively been made for my biz partner's and my own specific domain needs. As we need some additional money for current investments, we will sell 2 or 3 copies - strictly limited as of course we don't want the whole world to use it.

Ok,
here is what it does:

You can run a list of (expired)domains against an editable dictionary/keywordlist and the program will show you all the domains with that keyword(s) in it within seconds. You can also choose the min/max/exactly lenght of the domains that you want the program to extract as well as if it should only show 1/2/3 etc. word domains or all.Includes a function to export the filtered list as a simple .txt file as well as several include/exclude options .

The program does NOT come with any expired name lists(you have to find those yourself at places like exody.com and then easily import it into the program) and it DOESN'T come with a completed dictionary(all you have to do is convert/export an
existing dictionary into a .txt file ore make your own individual keyword .txt file - of course the program will keep the dictionary if you wish and you can edit /add/remove words from it anytime or replace it with a new one) but it indeed is a GREAT help as it saves me SOO much time since i don't have to compare manually anymore - all i have to do is keep my dictionary up to date, import an expired names list, wait a few moments and and there i go. Normally it takes seconds to extract, only if it's a very huge expired list (>10000)it might take a minute or two.

This software really is a great timesaver, easy to install and works on any Win95/98/XP etc. PC.

If you're interested, drop me a line at [email protected]

Sorry about the delayed response.

Domain-Retriever now has a special listbox you can
enter keywords into ONCE and they're saved.

Each time you load names (from expired, on-hold,etc)
lists the only ones that will show up are the ones that
have the keywords you want.

You can enter unlimited keywords but doing more then
50 will slow down the program quite a bit.

We're adding 2 more features today, and they
should be available by tonight (I'll do another post).

1. Alexa Search Results
2. Traffic Only Search

Pretty cool features, both requested by our current
clients.

Once again. Domain-Retriever comes with a KEYWORD
filter (as well as a tld filter, length filter, num filter, dash
filter, etc).

Let me know if you have any more questions!

As I posted in another forum, I am looking for 4 partners to develop GOOD expiring domain software.

Written by domain people, for domain people.

Research has been done, coding started.

Will not be distributed, as will give us a 80% advantage over current market.

Completely automated, and runs about 150 times faster than anything out there.

If interested in partnering, ( serious players only)
drop a line under contact at JoePro

Joe,

You make it seem like we're not selling GOOD
software joe. I consider that highly offensive
since we take great pride in EVERYTHING we
do.

Our software WAS developed by domain specialists
FOR domain specialists and the features that
are implemented on every new update are there
as a result of REQUESTS to implement them, requests
by "domain people".

Our software is constantly evolving.

------

Research has been done

I assure you that the research you've done on this
subject and the information you've gathered do
not account for more than 10% of what you should
know about the business.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get those highly accurate
and well researched statistics (80% advantage,
150 times faster).

Good luck with your "GOOD" software and in
finding FOUR suckers to do all the programming for
you.
