So Facebook supposedly has 500 million active subscribers. That's incredible. Since it is already a social networking phenomenon it can focus on transforming itself into the most formidable marketing and advertising platform on the planet. Or it could begin to focus on cloud computing services where content providers will provide access to entertainment of all forms. Farmville is just a start.
Given that there is MySpace and a host of other social networking sites one has to wonder what facebook got right or did differently. Even amidst all the news about security concerns related to user privacy information the website only seems to be gaining more users.
Only a few years back I imagine most big companies would have dismissed social networking as a fad. Google now seems to be taking it seriously and is looking to build its own social networking platform.
The big boy used to be IBM then Microsoft now Google and soon it could be Facebook. As domainers can we really afford to ignore facebook?
