"We (me and my wife) ended up selling as much of our stuff as possible to invest in domains. The magical point came when our living expenses were covered and we just kept on reinvesting to grow the cashflow." -- Michael Gilmour

Four or five years ago, some silver spooner in Newport RI said this to me when I suggested investing in domains:

"Sure, there are a lot of guys trading them like baseball cards, but why would I want to invest?"

I forgot to mention one quote that really describes the world of domaining.

Vida.com was just sold for $70,000 at namejet. The name was dropped by someone who's not interested. It means...

"One man's junk is another man's treasure." -- Unknown

What does it mean when the person who bought it for $70,000 backs out and the auction is redone (see : http://www.thedomains.com/2008/11/05/letscom-back-up-for-auction-on-namejetcom/#comments)

One man's junk is another man's deadbeat/fraudulent bidder which is another man's treasure LOL

Regardless of sales price, why did the owner let it drop in the first place?

Besides, there are tons of good examples for this famous quote. And you can see them everyday at namejet, snapnames, etc.

"Domains have and will continue to go up in value faster than any other commodity ever known to man" -- Bill Gates

"A broker of Internet domain names lists 'billgates.com' for sale for $1 million.

"Perhaps I should be flattered that somebody imagines the name is worth so much, especially since my parents gave me the same name 42 years ago for free."

Isn't the other way?
I use to say the opposite:
"I shape the future of my children with the names I hold"

"Think of all the structures humans have built throughout the ages. Not a one of them or all of them combined will equal what the net will become. Not a one of them will compare to what the net has provided. Not a one of them will measure up to the incredible spirit of man to create something so limitless and boundless."

-- Rick Schwartz
