We were all immature and on behalf of everyone trying to teach you, we're sorry. :)

Great detailed post that covers everything mentioned without a hint of sarcasm though angel69. I just couldn't help myself seeing this domain being valuated and then him coming back and saying it's not about the domain name, but automated valuation tools. ;)

I've lived in Okinawa, Japan for 7 years (but did have Verizon as my cellular carrier in the States) and know for a fact that they have a contract with the government over here for their switchboards/etc. so it's safe to assume that they're a multinational corporation (possibly operating in Aussie now too with the move of Marines there). No need to get frustrated, you got your answer on the valuation of the domain name and automated valuation tools.

I only knew FiOS was a trademark off the bat cause when I was in the States, it just came out and I wasn't in an area where they installed it. I subsequently had to settle for Comcast Business Class cable (glad I did, it downloaded at 2 megabytes a second—a movie in less than 6 minutes—FiOS didn't come close at the time!).

To answer your question without sarcasm, your domain is a liability as stated above by angel69. You came to the Domain Appraisal and Discussion forum stating:

appraised value 6,490 USD change currency

So obviously, I assumed that you wanted an answer for both. Is it worth that and are automated tools accurate.

I would say that automated tools aren't accurate and should only be used for entertainment purposes only. However, they do provide good stats compiled such as search volume, CPC, domains taken in other extensions, etc., etc. which will give a better valuation if you were to ask someone about a particular domain name with those stats that are already compiled in front of you (rather than go to Webmaster Tools, Analytics, Alexa, etc. to collect the info manually). I wouldn’t post in a for sales thread “Estibot Value: $5350” for a domain name I clearly can tell isn’t even worth that to an end user (though you never know) as it is irrelevant to the domain—I would post real statistics collected from analytics about average pages per visit, bounce rate, new vs. returning, etc. for a developed minisite or U/V for a parked page along with CPC/revenue if it were to help sell the domain name. Seeing an automated appraisal doesn’t say much to me and I wouldn’t entertain it as the seller has no idea what the value is worth themselves.

Hi

your request for appraisal of the domain, should have been "irrespective" of the appraisal tools' results.

any or should I say , every experienced domainer knows and has said many times.....that "automated appraisal tool" values are subjective and virtually meaningless.

so, if and when you present that "bs" as weight, it gets dismissed, along with the mention of "tm", which would effectively reduce it's value on the reseller market, despite any "revenue" it currently may earn.

though it's possible you may never receive a C&D letter for the name, the possibility of that occurring is known to others here....so it's a valid argument to bring to the table in a discussion about this domain, as the "tool" may not consider such factors.

imo...

After I give you a sincere answer to your question, you come back with even more garbage which makes this thread even funnier, so here's more sarcasm:

Yes, I register category killer .gov domains on a daily basis and they're cheaper than .com's with exclusive GoDaddy coupons! There is good money flipping them to the US government...

Just to give you a clue, the domain I currently have on a $1 auction has an appraisal of $838 from Domain Index. It's now at $7 (don't mean to self promote here, but teach a lesson). Do you think it's going to even break $100? I'd hope so, but that's a long shot. So, is Domain Index even close to accurate, not at all.

No, not at all. I was already laughing my ass off watching at an absolutely absurd and hilarious dollar figure appraisal. And then you, oh my...you had me laughing out loud watching you trying to defend your name and fending off any commentary.

And now this...pegging me as immature when from the get go you got all so pouty and teary eyed when nobody was liking the name. This is how I imagined it was going for you...

Now, that f'ing funny.
