As we all know, duncan isn't the snazziest of the designers... But my aunt hooked me up with a website job for this designer of jewelry or something.

Right now her site is crap AKA nothing interesting.

I have her number, and I don't know what to say or ask, could you please help me?... This other guy was going to charge her $125.00 to do it. I will charge way less then that.. but not too sure...

I have Fireworks MX 2004 (just got it) and MS Frontpage..

Also when she asks me to put a new page.. do I ask her to write me the content in an email?

Thanks alot.

-- PS if you need the website then PM me, I just don't want ppl stealing my first job :p

wow, price seems pretty cheap. usually you ask them for any ideas of what they want the site to look like, then build some drafts and develop on what they like.

For a jewelry designer? Way less than $125? I thought you meant the logo. And yes, always ask for typed text so you can copy and paste EVEN when you are an excellent typist.

It really depends on the client. I see from her prices that most of them are in the low end market, so PayPal should at least be an option. :)

Whatever you do don't use Frontpage.
It adds all kind of junk to html code and the website will get penalized in SE rankings..

There are alternatives to Frontpage, use dreamweaver, its a 1000x better.

Well..use frontpage if you have enough knowledge to fix the code with NotePad after building the design

Please don't get me wrong, I dislike frontpage and suggest you use anything that doesn't include a gui. However, you could try using frontpage express. FPX does not add TOO much crapola, and it's free. You can still download it from a few sites.

Another option which I've suggested to people who need a GUI is a program called HTML-Kit. It is a freeware GUI webdesign app that is quite easy to use.

As for the price, charge whatever you're comfortable with. Your customer needs to know that the cheapest price isn't always the best. Remind her that afterwards she will think of things she wants changed or modified (after sales support) and you can include that in your price.
