Agreed, don't see any proffit potential from most domains elequa gets... he said he doesn't sell domains, so what would he do with hundreds of his domains that have no traffic ?

Duke, I don't see any sense in your claim, there are many more successful domainers than elequa, not to mention folks who started virtualy from scratch and guys who are in size much bigger.

I got krakarakatakatu.com, it's as invaluable as media.com :)

My domain software shows 8000 Google links, and I went to googles advanced search and typed in www.istocks.com and it confirmed these 8000 links. Any explanations? I havent even had a drink today.

Those 8k links are defunct. It's from a robots.txt file which forwarded all traffic to www.internetstockreport.com, the financial arm of the Internet.com network. So in effect, they're worthless.

His business model seems reasonable enough. In his position, he could surely improve upon it (at least in my eyes), but time is always the critical factor.

Oxide is just a graphical front for an Oingo (Applied Semantics) partnered relationship, which functions primarily through Overture sponsored listings....although with the Google acquisition of AS, you'll see that the search results have become less reliant on OVT.

Add DJ.net and MP3.tv for good measure as brandable portals which work off his love of music.

That's not so hard to understand, now is it.

Not for me. The rest of you can believe whatever you want - it is not my place to detail Elequa's domain-related finances. I'm not making any claims that have to be substantiated. I was just making a passing comment in answer to those who seem to think he doesn't know what he is doing. I happen to know otherwise and I'll leave it at that.

How much traffic is going to come from the 8000 incoming links that this domain has? Not much IMO because they are mostly from pages like the ones on internetnews.com old news stories. People don't read news stories 6-7 months old, particularly when it comes to news stories related to finance and tech sector. Not many visitors will ever go to those old news pages and hence no one will click on the links to istocks.com. Although most links may remain where they are now on internet.com network.

To top this I don't think internet.com or any site related to it will add any more new links to istocks.com in future.

But what do I know? I no nuffin... :)

I think elequa:

(a) Enjoys what he does. He has many amazing domains, but he's taking his time to develop a few properly..
(b) Knows that premium names will hold their value for a long time yet, even undeveloped..

quote from beachie thats right on the money

did anybody consider asking him rather then making assumptions realize that because you do not see the motive or potential value of a action does not preclude its validity

i have observed and done business with him and he is nobodys fool and a non preforming name purchase would be the exception not the rule.

My opinion about Mr. ele;

He´s a collector of premium names, I don´t think his goal is to make money from the names at the moment.

To own a lot of acronyms. (most of them with with traffic) and keyword dot coms is a very good investment IMO. That´s a lot of very targeted traffic, he can do whatever he wants (develop, access to premium partnerships with top PPC, etc.)

He said once; "I just born to this; fast cars (he owns 7 ferraris), beatiful girls (he dates magazines cover girls), and domain names" Well, not the exact words, for something like that :)

Big player our friend elequa.
