I contacted them and they said, in brief, that having accepted their registration agreement, I was automatically aware of their right to charge me that fee.
I was about to say that. Yes, it sucks, but that's the point of FINE PRINTS ... so you don't know what you have agreed to. Sorry to hear that.

ALWAYS READ the fine print

You never know what they'll try to stick in those Terms anymore. And when you check the box that says "I have read and understood the Terms" then you are basicly screwed, unless those terms violate law or are too vauge or somehow otherwise unenforceable.

It amazes me how many people i've bought names from here use GD. I've always thought they sucked and figured that even if it wasn't clear to the masses it would be to the smart crowd here.

For the record... I pay LESS for names that are reg'd thru GD. I have to discount for my time and effort to deal with their crap system.

just call them I am sure they will refund the charge....they do just about anything I ask them to considering I have like 700+ names there..

They won't give me free private registration though, even though it's free if you purchase 3 new domains. OK I know they'll charge me next year for those, but I was asking for the rest of my domains.

What priviledges have you managed to squeeze out of them?

Same here. Domainer using Godaddy is not pro but amateur saving $1 on coupons. I personally ignore any domains on sale if registrar is Godaddy and there must be more domainers doing so.

Agree, Enom. I was ready to use Domainsite mostly, as they do not charge 3% for Paypal payments, but now I found they charge $7.99 for renewals, so I am moving all expiring domains to Enom.

I am sure Moniker is OK too, real good English speaking human and friendly support, just need them to ask special pricing, someone mentioned $6.85...

The inquiry wasn't yours, so you're not "the customer" for this service. I think they violated terms of their merchant account, it's not an authorized charged.

I agree - this sounds like a clear violation of the rules for being a merchant... I would sniff around this issue and see if you can cause them any trouble.

Whoa ... never heard of such a charge. Admittedly, I only GoDaddy to acquire domains so I'm not fully up to speed on all their policies, etc - I don't keep anything there too long, since they have a history of jerking people around ... ie. their BS 60 day rule for transferring out "pushed" domains.

Anyways, the $29 fee adds another reason not to use and avoid GoDaddy whenever possible.

On a related note, just because something is in a legal agreement doesn't mean it's legal and/or enforceable.

Ron

addendum:

Before fighting the $29 fee, etc any further, stop and TRANSFER OUT ALL DOMAINS to a reputable registrar immediately.

To be honest, it may be best, in the longrun, to forget about the $29 all together, and simply get everything out of there and move on.

I'm now in the same situation.

Could anybody having the same experience tell me some more details? Have you been forced to transfer the domains to the complaint? Any furthur fees charged by Godaddy?

Thanks much for your help!

Hi Jamguo,

PM sent but, in any case, godaddy is the only registrar who charged us a fee related to an UDRP case, no charges nor troubles with other registrars like Dotster.com for example which we can recommend in full.

Thank you all!

And FYI, I got reply from GoDaddy:

"There will be no more administrative fees on our end in regard to this particular case and domain names should you lose the case."

You need to take into account that Bob Parsons has huge expenses. What do you think the male escort service is cheap?
