For a while, GoDaddy was doing well. But, for the past couple weeks, I think they are batting "zero" for me.

Put "awt47v64sq3f.com" in your GoDaddy backorder list and maybe -- just maybe -- they'll grab it.

Their backorder service is pathetic, bordering on fraudulent.

Come on. Be fair. It is neither pathetic nor bordering on fraudulent regarding the names they manage to pick up.

If you were able to compare their success rate to snapnames.com with their 15-ish registrars, you would find it did ok.

It often, beats NW 8.75/15 bids and eNom and of course it sometimes beats higher bids, snapnames backorders and pool.com.

May not be all that often, but they do do it.

AmericanReservations.com on the 18th with $275. bid at NW, the snap taken by BD, and the backorder at pool!
Also NameMaven.com on the 23rd and AsianSexLive.com on the 31st.

You get what you pay for: $18.95 for a long shot grab of a big ticket name!

Are you a sports fan, King? Well, here's my latest GoDaddy box score:

Backordered: 70
Captured: 1

That's a .014 batting average.

And the one stinkin' name they caught was deliberately put there just to see if they could capture a crap name with NO snaps. Mighty impressive.

"Pathetic, bordering on fraudulent" is probably understated, bordering on generous.

I don't think Godaddy's so bad when you look at the massive price differential between their service and any other drop catcher.

They've missed a LOT, but in the last few weeks they've managed to get me:-

andorra-la-vella.com
banja-luka.com
debt-financing.com
favoriten.com
frypans.com
sideboards.net
temporary-tattoo.com
viscose.net

None of the above would set the world on fire, but they're IMO not too bad!

If you exchange names every 5 days, you might grab a name within one year lifetime of backorder. :)

Exactly. It's the most pathetic performance since the 0-26 1976-78 Tampa Bay Bucs. :worried:

About whom Coach John McKay was asked "What do you think about the team's execution?"

To which he replied with one of his most famous quips "I'm in favor of it!" :-D

Almost all correct:

"Assumptions" since BD owns a s**tload of "reservation(s)" names.

Just a little bit better than ExpireFish.

And I believe they still only have 2 catchers (Go... and Wild...) going after names during the drop. How well can they do?

I'm not tooting my horn for them. I'm only saying they're in the game and that upcoming "really great" drops are almost always covered at the site by someone! And it pisses me off when they catch a really good one (IMO)!

My success rate is about 1 in 10-12 (winning quite a lot of lowish value names)

I have successfully acquired names with over 60% of my backorders.

It is harder to place backorders on better names now than it was 3 months ago.

Probably a lot less likely that the backorders on good names will win than it was 3 months ago too :(

And shortly thereafter, a young sportscaster at Channel 13 asked McKay, "Hey coach, where are your Bucanneers?" To which he replied, "On both sides of my buc'n head!" :-D
