Hello, we have reports direct from Google that more than one ad on a page is currently forbidden, why are people still trying to put two up?

But then if you get kicked out that's your problem, not mine.

A slight parallel to this topic, but why can 4 clicks get me $1.50 one day, and the next, 7 clicks gets me $0.25?

It all depends on the ads. One of the ads could pay $.02 per click, another could pay $5.91 per click. It all depends what your website is based on. If you have an AIM related site, than the ads will pay pretty low. If you have a website about lawyers then the ads will pay much more.

Do not understand the reason some here want to run more than one adsense display per page. All you are doing is diluting the value of the other ads by running a second set on the same page, not to mention cluttering up the page too. (This is also likely why Google only allows one set per page).

The number of ads seems to be based mostly on the window size. For example, even though as many as 5 ads will apppear in the large size adsense window, on some of my websites I decided to use smaller adsense displays where 3 or 4 appear in the window.

In fact, on very low traffic sites I selected small size adsense where only 1 or 2 ads appear since I feel low traffic sites may get better CTR's with a smaller selection of ads to select from (but not positive about that being so, just an educated guess).

Anyone have opinions on this?

Multiple ad units

To provide even more value to your users, and to help you further monetize your web pages, we're allowing publishers to place up to three ad units on every web page. Our system will automatically recognize the additional ad units, and will serve unique ads to each. Your ad units can each have different color palettes, formats, and alternate ad URLs, providing you with the flexibility you need to incorporate Google ads into your site design. Please read the Multiple Ad Units section of our FAQ for the full details

Not sure if this is old news.. but seems like we are able to place up to 3!!! Adsense ads on a single page. Seems a bit excessive buy hey... I'm not complaining.

FYI, I have 3 (count 'em) AdSense 468x60 's in the home page of my site and I'm not asking any questions.

I tried mixing and matching different combinations of ad sizes on the same page- but that didn't work. I even took the 486's (the 3) and tried to break them up into six, 248's, and again only three showed up- the first three...

despite what's allowed, see: www.self-mastery.org and click on all six ads to convince yourself so we can all sleep better tonight and put this issue to rest!

Here's my gripe:

The Ad guidlines are one thing and they make sense - especially given that Google's homepage might be the most! uncluttered on the web-

but AdSense ads force users to exit your site. After working so hard to get them there, I wouldn't mind an option to have AdSense ads open up in a new window.

Ya know...?

OK, they have changed the terms once again. You can now have 3 adsense codes on one page. Man, I removed mine when they changed it from two to one ... now it's 3. What's next? ;)

Thanks for the info Giant! Kinda amazing they thought 2 was too much before and now 3 units are allowed. Problem is 3 units (or even 2) on a relatively low traffic site may be an over-supply of ads on a page, giving users too much to clickon to the point they click nothing!

If you try 3 units there is no easy way to gauge the results as G unfortunately does not report individual stats.

I actually found that the multiple ads increase the profits by a lot! Yes, 3 may be too much, but I'm definitely going back to 2.

Try a square at the top under the header that looks like content (same bg color as site), and one of the vertical towers going down the side. That worked well for me. When I removed the tower it went down significantly.

Can you please give an example of a site where you have that online, either by post or by PM? Thanks.

I just got this email.

Google AdSenseâ„¢:
New features

Hello,

We're pleased to introduce a number of new features to your account.

Collapsing ad units

An additional option for your alternate ad content, Google’s collapsing ad units ensure that your page space is used to its maximum potential at all times. When targeted ads aren’t available for an ad unit, the collapsing ad unit feature will shrink the empty ad unit, so that blank ad spaces are eliminated from your page. For instructions on implementing this feature, please read the AdSense FAQ.

New name for WebSearch

We’re dropping the ‘WebSearch’ from ‘WebSearch plus AdSense for search.’ This monetized search feature will now be referred to simply as AdSense for search – but all of the same great features remain. For more information on providing customized Google internet and site search to your users and earning money from clicks on targeted ads, please read our FAQ.

Multiple domains for AdSense for search SiteSearch

Your Search Settings page now provides you with the option of specifying multiple domains for SiteSearch. Simply enter up to three domains when generating your search code - your AdSense for search box will list each domain with a radio button, allowing your users to choose the site on which they would like to search.

Ads by Goooooogle

We’re currently running a test with new branding features on Google ads. You may notice some of your pages displaying ‘Ads by Goooooogle’ ad units. We welcome your feedback on this new look, and we’ll be analyzing the results of this test over the next while.

How to contact us

We’re very excited about these new features, and we’re always happy to answer any questions you may have about them, or about the AdSense program. You can contact us at [email protected].

Sincerely,

The Google Team
