I can't believe you just said that. Everyone influences the world differently and uniquely. Suppose someone else was the holder of that trademarked domain, maybe they would be the one to register it, but then simply hand it over without trouble or question; While someone else might choose to fight it in court costing both companies many thousands of dollars, creating a media storm, and resulting in a bunch of new Domain News threads here on DNForum and related sites. The same event took place, registering the domain, but with very different outcomes.
Yes I suppose the outcome in that particular scenario would/could be different, however let's look realistically at it. The goal of all of us "mass domain registrants" here at this forum is to make money. This particular goal (making money with domains) by most of us is conducted in several different ways, one of them being the registration of typos in the interest of their exploation through the usage of third party ppc feeds. Therefore it is highly unlikely that any one of us would be spending money (registering this name) in order not to make a profit, or only to return it to their supposed intellectual-rights "owner". So the notion you introduced above in your remark might work theoretically, but probably not in reality.
Your remark also raises an interesting question or two. Suppose we registered that name to make a profit with it (and we all agree that's the primary reason for all of us here) but somewhere along the line we get contacted by G. and we, being the nice fellas we are, decide to return this name to them. How would we feel about ourselves then? After all we had the "wrong" intention originally, but we did the "right" thing consequently? Are we clean? Is our conscious clear? Should we still fear hell? In other words when does one's bad intention, becomes a "passable" act in the eyes of community, public, the legal system? How do we transit from being bad to being good? Are the lines of demarcation between the two clear and transparent beyond any reasonable doubt?
Furthermore if we took the same "individual" approach (of making a "difference") you're advocating, then none of us should ever again register buy or sell any typo, or any potential tm name. Do you realize if that was to happen, this forum would turn into a ghost town?
I know I am now elaborating on your remark, but your original reply to Mediahound dude was one of support of his thought.
