I just got a blind call from some nice lady that wants
to buy CouponCupid.com
I always had high hopes for this one..."Let the Coupon Cupid match you up with the best coupons ! "
Anyway, I told her $300 and she talked me down to $250 (2 kids in diapers she said, lol)....

Good deal ?

you got suckered by a sweet female voice and some kids crying in the background. lol

no...just kidding

as long as you're happy, then it's a good deal :)

but if she's one of those "stay-at-home" moms with big dreams of a coupon site...watch out.

before she makes the website huge, maybe you should go reg all the typo's :)

Diapers Coupons would be what she has in mind.

It should get 500,000 hits a day soon.

Ask her if she is single and want a long term partnership (excluding the kids).

You never know.

Two kids "on rent" for an hour ... 10 dollars

Fooling expert domainer into handing over brandable domain ... Priceless :D

I like to take a look at dnsaleprice.com to feel out pricing when I'm not sure.

Sale is a sale.

Once sold, no looking back.

Sounds good.

For "small" end users I think it's better to start the negotiating with $700-900 that's usually the max they can pay.

it's a nice brandable name that I could see selling for higher, maybe low to mid x,xxx.

but if you wanted $300 and got $250 that's still ok. if you get a blind call or email you should try to get them to offer first, or start your asking price high.

I had one such "small" end user negotiate from $250 up to $5,700. Some people just enjoy to haggle.

BTW, several dead trademarks on USPTO for "coupon cupid"

the problem is knowing if the person on the other end of the phone/email is a small or big end user.

If you don't ask, you don't get. In other words, if you ask for little, that's what you will receive.

always start off assuming a big enduser I guess.

in this example, if you didn't sell for $250 it would be no big loss to you.

at least you'll eventually see what gets done with this domain.

the big end user would buy it right away for $300, wouldn't haggle for 50 bux.

Hey it happened to me, I had some guy contact me like he had never bought a domain before or more or less login to his yahoo email account.

The domain was VIPnation.com which I purchased from ebay for around $2.

I squeezed the guy for the most I thought I could $2,500 cause he was internet handy capped and all.

Turned out it was www.LiveNation.com on the other end of the phone, some savvy broker or employee from LiveNation.com who tricked me.

If you know who Live Nation is then you know they could spare a few more bucks, I may have been able to retire if I knew they wanted the domain and not some slub with aspirations for a gutter idea who cant even log into there email account.

Ouch! Let's all learn a lesson through this guy's pain.
