DNForum and Forum Members,
I wanted to offer a little info on my background hoping that it might help kick start my âDNForumâ reputation before I start buying/selling domains and asking/answering questions.
Please donât get me wrong. I do understand that a newbie is a newbie and respect/reputation must be earned. I just feel that this is better then nothing for when I start offering my input, asking/answering questions, and buying/selling names.
at least I hope soâ¦
Born, raised, and currently residing in Utah, USA
I will give a quick summary of the last few years:
2001 â 2007
Designed, developed, and maintained online retail website.
In 2001 I helped take this start-up from 3 employees and a few sales a day, to over 30 employees and $12M annual revenue in 2007.
As many of you may know, you wear many hats in the early stages of business development and even more so with internet start-ups.
Experience Gained with this business:
- Web Development (PHP, JavaScript)
- SEO, SEM, and some PR.
- Business Policy, Procedure, and E-Commerce development.
- assisted in the development and implementation of the in-house CRM, inventory management, and other customer service software tools.
- Affiliate program creation and affiliate marketing
- Created both customer service and sales departments.
- Purchasing product from vendors.
2000 â Present
- Own and operate 2 personal affiliate marketing networks (100% organic SEO)
- 2007 Co-founded and currently operate web development and internet marketing company (I.O. Inc LLC)
- Privately buying and selling domain names (currently own about 130 âqualityâ names).
I know that there are many individuals that are very good at both PPC and SEO. But because of the technological advancements with web 2.0 and additional creative social marketing techniques, there is more then enough to learn and keep up with.
Current Specialties:
SEO, SEM, Affiliate Marketing (Merchants & Web Publishers), E-Commerce Web Development, Joomla, Virtuemart, and other Joomla extensions (plug-ins, components, and modules).
Non-Tech Specialties:
Sales, Negotiations, and E-Commerce Business Development.
Domain Name Experience:
- since 2006 I have brokered 7 domain name sales with prices ranging from $12,000.00 to $65,000.00.
- I purchased 2 domain names this year (2008) totaling about $55,000.00 between the two. Both names acquired for start-ups expecting to be launched around this time next year (2009).
- Over 40 personal domain names sold this year (2008) with prices ranging from $10.00 â $800.00.
- Just over 200 domain names dropped since 2005.
I am very excited about becoming a member of this forum and plan on contributing as much as possible.
If any of you would like to connect on LinkedIn, PM me and I will send details.
I hope to be able to work with the gurus of the 'gurus' and can't wait to get my hands dirty!
Thanks Ladies and Gents!
