A few things:

- Google's max bids are $50. Overture's are $100. (at least last I checked). Be skeptical of any site advertising keywords over $50 as they will do you no good as an AdSense advertiser.
- Your share is far below the bid amount. At a minimum, Google takes 40% (sometimes far more). Google has rightly determined that people are abusing high paying keywords. Thus, they are discriminately altering the amount they pay AdSense advertisers. That means bidders may pay $50, but you will be paid far less because they determine that you are not generating relative clicks. If you want to target the keyword "mesothelioma", build a meaningful, relevant site about the topic. Then users that actually care about the topic will come to your site, see the ads and click.
- Not all the ads on your site will result in the highest payouts. Google uses AdSense to generate traffic and clicks for their low-payout advertisers as well. You will frequently see advertisers on your site that are bidding $.05 a click (yes, even for US/UK traffic). This is a great technique for encouraging new AdWords advertisers to bid more, etc.
- The international traffic point was made earlier. Asbestos cancer (mesotheliaoma) is lucrative in the US due to the massive industry settlements paid to victims. If you have the disease, you are virtually guaranteed a million dollar settlement (and a near-term death). I doubt that this applies outside the US.

I agree with everything you said, fredlucas. That is so true about Google, and yes, Google is evil!

Evil might be a strong word =).

Their priority is:
1. Users
2. Advertisers
3. Publishers (all of us)

1. As a user I love them.
2. As an advertiser I appreciate them.
3. As a publisher, I'm just waiting for Overture/Yahoo to offer their competitive service...
