As a former TV sportscaster I was very happy to stumble upon what I consider to be an exceptional expired name this afternoon:
PregameShow.com
After grabbing it I immediately checked to see if PostgameShow.com was available. It was not - the .com .net and .org are all registered by the biggest broadcast company in America.
Also found that this same company has PregameShow.net and .org so there is no doubt they are the ones who somehow let PregameShow.com expire. They now have a major hole in their portfolio. The amazing thing is, this expired back in April and was still sitting there when I happened upon it today.
The network pregame shows are massively popular as all football fans know and a web site with pregame features, forums etc would also be a monster if done by a company with the necessary capital. Also think of the subdomain possibilities:
football.pregameshow.com, basketball.pregameshow.com etc. or
raiders.pregameshow.com if you want to go to the team level.
I would really like input from all of you about how you would value this domain and go about marketing it. I worked in TV for 20 years with two major network affiliates and I think I should approach all of the networks with this name (as well as the company that originally had it and would undoubtedly like to have it back).
If I do not get a reasonable offer for it I am seriously considering developing it myself. I went looking for some companion names to use for postgame sites and picked up GameReports.com which also was not registered (who says you can't find any good .com names anymore) and PostgameForum.com. With those I can pretty well cover the whole football (or other sport) weekend - or sell the whole package to a network or media entity that could do it better than me.
I am fairly new in the domain business but I think this one might be a real contender. I really would value any input from the many more experienced users here. If I sell it should it go to someone like GreatDomains or should I just handle it myself. Ebay is usually the home of the lowball bidder, but if properly advertised perhaps they would work for this kind of name. Help!
