Hello

Once i look from namebio, i have seen that there are about 10-20 domains are sold that. If i multiply it with two if we consider the forum sales, it would be about 40 or 50 domains are sold per day.

Is it true ? I mean are the sales of the domain market is so small? (the count of the sales i mean, not the revenue)

Or namebio doesnt have accurate data ?

If there are being daily even 100 sales, it is not considerable to invest on good domains for me becuase i know that i wont be selling each of them that will save the costs of the registration fees since i register about 20-30 good domains per day.

Thanks

there are plenty of domain sales that go unreported, that are unknown and that are kept secret, so you will never know how many domains are being sold in a single day

also, how do you know that the "20-30 domains that you reg everyday" are any good?

another point is

many domainers will hold domains for years, before they sell them

no,
i mean i have looked namebio.com and as i aw yesterday about 30 domains are sold. that is very small amount. Even there are 1000 domains are sold privately, it is still less for me.

Or it is that tdnam, sedo, namejet, etc sites are not publishing the most of their sales ?

I am not sure of the numbers...and this is just a random guess...but i would think for every domain sold and visible to the public.. there must be at least 100 that are not reported.

Again this is just my guess...but none of my end user sales i report. That number could be much lower or much higher...

about the domains i would register, by meaning "good" i am not talking aobut xxx usd worth of domains. I am talking about the domains where i can sell for 40-50 usd..

Pinkmist,

can you show me sources ? i only know namebio dot com...

If there are only 100 sales per month, i really cant spend my time over domains :( I dont have premium domains to sell for thousands...

You are missing an awful lot of sales in your numbers. What about GoDaddy auctions, fixed price sales, Sedo auctions, and sales, Snapnames, Afternic, Domain Point, Ebay, Bido, on and on, and all of the sales that happen via email each day. I'm sure there are thousands of domains changing hands each day.

If you are selling names at 40-50 each, you have to sell an awfully high percentage of your names and quite a bit of volume to turn a profit. It's a tough business model (but not impossible). You may want to re-think your plan.

A ton of domains sell on eBay every day, though usually for very low prices.

I don't know the total quantity of sales on domain forums, but I had some years when I averaged about 5 per day, and I'm just one person ... again, though, most of those sales were for small amounts.

If your real question is, "How many sales each day are for $50 or more," that's a different story.

There is no way to track this since the vast majority of sales are private and not reported. As stated before, DNJournal does their weekly report of the top sales of the previous week but I'm willing to be that's not even 1% of the sales that actually happen.

IMO the vast majority of sales are under $500 but before you get discouraged - most of those are hand-registrations and then the owner searches out end users and negotiates sales. Some can easily nail out many $50-$100 (from reg fee) names a month.

You get out of it what you put into it. Do research on domains, what's popular, what's up and coming, and then search out end users. TO stay safe - keep away from TMs.

Thousands are sold daily i would say only 5% of sales are reported on DNJournal.com who can tell you better information on this is escrow.com most domainers do not report their sales. I have sold a lot of names with people contacting my whois and then going through escrow.com .

You are totally right, but i really still think that, even without reported sales, the amount is really low.

Just buy. Don't think.
Why would i only buy and dont think to sell ? How would i make money then :)

If there are only 100 sales per month...

At DnSalePrice.com I'm counting over three thousand domain sales for August '09 that total to over $10M (total searchable sales exceed $600M). This represents all public sales through "known reputable channels" and includes all sales verified and published by DnJournal (and, I might add, with Duke's permission).

The site does not include private, forum or eBay sales. Some estimates say private sales account for up 80% of the market. Give us a try, I think you'll see why this site is favored by experienced traders.

Just PM if you have any issues.

I sold four domains totaling over $100k none were ever reported to dnjournal and the reason is they as want all private sales they want to see your bank statements which to be honest nobody is gonna do...........so as long as dnjournal continue to ask for bank statements to prove the sale they will miss out all the private sales totaling millions of dollars each year.

I see, but as far as I concern is the quantity of the sales, not the amount of the sales. Looking to hear back from other people as well.

I really think that people who are reading this topic might be convienved about the domain market. But I still dont believe that the market is as so big as people think. Following the sales for almost a week, and i am not satisfied with the sales of the domains yet. Olny very good premium domains are sold. Maybe it is because of the recession..

Your perception is an artifact of the site you're using. You've already stated it shows only 20-30 sales per day. So... quit looking there! There are other sources substantially more complete.
