I'm quite new to the domain name game and love the action these letters and words delivers, I have a few questions if I may in asking to the experts, pros, guru's or just someone alot more experience than me that has sold atleast 1 or 2 domain names worth over a $1,000.

1. How to become a great seller or a great domain flipper?.
2. What tools or ebook do you recommend to a newbie for serious investments in the domain industry?.
3. What registar is best used for security, price, etc.?

I would have a fourth question but I already know where is the best forum for domain business hail. :first:

Your kind response will be greatly appreciated. :grouphug:

1. There isn't an easy answer to that one because there are many circumstances to consider. The best thing to do is learn as much as you can.

2. I wouldn't recommend eBooks. The information they contain is already available publicly and for free. There is a good beginner guide here.

3. I'll let the others answer that. I use quite a few of them and they are basically the same. But some serve different purposes. I heard Moniker was the best for domainers but I haven't personally used them.

4. There are lots of good forums out there about domains. This is only one of them.

from my experience the rewards are directly proportional to the amount of time effort and cash you are willing to pump into it, much like any business I suppose.

if you start from 0, with 0 knowledge and a very limited budget, be prepared to work hard for 2 years until you see good results. I have started like that, 2 years ago.

I had no idea about domains and I started hanging around here and reading as much as I could, registered a few names with an extremely limited budget and slowly climbed my way up. Now, after 2 years of practically spending more money than I actually earned, I earn a modest amount which allows me to support my studies and living expenses in prague.

I take it that you are starting where I began 2 years ago, so my advice to you is to read a lot before you go throwing away money and have patience because it might take a long time before you see fruits from your efforts. If you are persistent and devoted to make it in this business, you will sooner or later.

I've also seen people climb dramatically high from 0 in just one year. From 0 to a few thousand per month, it really depends on your budget. As VirtualT noted above,
the rewards are directly proportional to the amount of time effort and cash you are willing to pump into it

Fell free to PM me if you need any help with anything.

Yes!!! It's easy to waste lots of money when you're first starting out. Save up your cash and learn the domain industry first.

1. There is no one right way to become a great domain flipper, rather many have made it through various methods and strategies. What is great about this business is that it is still fairly new and you can come in and make some waves by showing us a new method.
2. No ebooks, read the daily sales, focus on trends with an outlook for future sales. You might buy a domain today for xxx then flip it for x,xxx in 1 year. Think about that. Some of the best people in the business had patience and long term goal.
3. My favorite is eNom because of their ease of use but Moniker and it's people are the best in the business. They frequent the forums, help you with support, stay on top of things. I have had domains with many registers, there are many to stay away from like 1&1 for example. Godaddy is good, they seem to improve and change with the times but they'll get picked on in here sometimes. I'd put those 3 up top eNom, Moniker, and Godaddy. That's not short change any others, those our my fav's.

Basically, be prepared for time travel to the mid-90's where all the good names still exist.

Well, my highest sale was only $500, but if you add up all of my $xx and $xxx sales, I think I'm up in the $xxxx range ;)

1. I suggest before you register or buy ANYTHING (besides that shiny Platinum Membership you've got there ;) ) you head on over to http://www.namebio.com and http://www.dnsaleprice.com/ and spend time studying past sales, especially more recent ones. After that, play Namebio's appraisal game and see how well your studying went. Check out DNjournal.com's weekly domain sales list too, because Mr. Jackson always gives some insight into a lot of the sales (read the article on Vodka.com for some true inspiration).

If I can go back in time and tell myself 5 things about the domain industry that I know now, one of them would be to study prior sales before buying anything.

Of course, I learned a lot by registering crap names, but I would've had more money to spend on smart decisions.

2. Luc has promised an update for the Domain Research Tool which will hopefully fix some of the bugs it's been having recently. It retails for $249 but you can get a discount link from any of us affiliates that will bring it down to $129. Premiumdrops was created by Luc as well, and it has recently been revamped with a ton of exciting features. The one I'm most excited about is the free domain tasting. That will really give a lot of people new to the business a chance to test out their growing domaining skills without the risk of losing a ton of money. I'm not just recommending this because I have their affiliate link in my sig, I really feel like this site is going to help the industry out.

My favorite free tools include:
TextClean (by Dnforum, just do a forum search)
Domain Name Analyzer (bulk whois/availability as well as domain generator)

3. I started out with Namecheap because of their prices and free whois privacy, but I've been with Moniker for about a year now and have nothing but good things to say about them. You can get special pricing, just do a forum search for the email to write to.
