What's everyone's thought's on paring down the domains
one holds ?. I have many .com and .net's where I have
deliberately taken both tld's to block anyone else, but now
in these times am wondering whether to release the .net
in hope that someone will reg it and then either buy the
.com or bring traffic to the .com . What do ya reckon ?.
Seems stupid keep 2 domains going when 75% of traffic
is going to .com and .net is just "along for the ride".

The usual way, I guess. If they don't pay for themselves, dump them ... unless you really like the sound of them. :)

I have dumped most .net's except for those in a complete .com/.net/.org package although there are a couple exceptions. (Because I still like the sound of them...)

Yep but problem for me is I like all of them . I guess domaining's a
bit like "obsessive compulsive disorder" . I wonder whose
going to be the first on DNforum to be diagnosed !. Anyway I guess
I will have to bite the bullet occasionally and actually let a
domain expire.

my plan for portfolio trimmers is to put them on sedo parking for 32 days and then list for sale with a $60 minimum price. If I get a bid they go to auction. This forum doesn't allow a "push to sedo auction for $60" thread but many other forums as well as websites do.....good luck!

I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but whenever I get around to it, I feel like I gotta keep them and register MORE names. AARRGGGHH!!! I really do have to sell some.

I am doing the same, reducing my portfolio to domains of some quality, selling some and letting some drop.
Domaining can be an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. A friend told me a while back that I am a "nerdiac," and gave me the domain nerdiacs.com

I've been buying domains for a while, but have only been taking it seriously for a relatively short period of time.
Max I had almost 3K domains, now I have about 800.
I have bought many, not because I liked the names so much or because of value, but only because the .com, .net, .org were take.
And I still have some phrases (.com and .net) that I don't think are worth very much.
