If they don't know any better they will never change the nameservers once the name is pushed.

That happens too. Sometimes, it's a "whisper down the lane" problem. I have one client to whom a domain name was transferred, and to whom I have repeatedly sent transfer instructions, but for whatever reason the instructions don't seem to be getting to the right person in the organization.

The larger the organization, the harder it is to get the right information to the right person.

"I note that the transfer of the domain name <spdrs.info> is now
complete. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter."

Everything is done now.

Why would McGraw-Hill go with private whois data?

That is a "first" for me.

'Coz they don't want competitors getting any ideas? :-D

It's really a shame the OP had to lose that domain. Oh well...

It's not really a shame if he was profitting off of the TM, it would have been a shame if he wasn't squatting and he lost it.

:)

I've been in more than one case where a company pays thousands of dollars to lawyers to force me to hand over a domain (which they don't really have a right over - but that's a different matter). I unlock the domain, even respond to their queries two or three times explaining how they transfer it away - and years later they still haven't done it.
