I'm with namecheap and I have there 22 names registered. Unfortunately you can't cancel a registration at namecheap. I know this since in my first registration I made a typo and wanted to cancel but they said not possible.

So with which registrars is canceling possible? How many days do you have to cancel? Do you have to contact them or can you cancel it yourself on the control menu?

I found this cancelling issue interesting and I wan't to try a few things. I need a cancellation friendly registrar. Any suggestions?

$18.99 for a .com name is a little more than I would expect in todays market. If you are cancelling anyway the price isn't important of course but I just might keep it if it turns out to be a good name and then the price becomes important. Of course it is still an option if the cancelling option is reliable.

When you cancel the name using the control menu is it automatically cancelled at the moment or does it require manual interfering by them.

If it requires manual action then let's say I register 50 names and cancel 47 of them I'm guessing they wouldn't be very happy.

edit:
I have send them an email asking what do they think if I resgister 100 names and then cancel 90 of them. Let's see what they will say.

mjnells,
thanks for the link. It is a very new thread and looks interesting. They must be monitoring that thread. I will ask there as well. It looks much better now with those prices.

I use the cancelation process all the time, after testing the traffic of name I register. There is an administration fee of 0.25$ for each cancellation, and the rest of your money are returned into your account's funds. You have 4 days to cancel a new registration, and the process is very easy. Once you get to your control panel in moniker, you'll find out how to do it, no doubt.

I second that, a very handy feature. And money-saving, too!

Petrosc is right on the mark with this. We give you the opportunity to try out the domain for the 4 days, and then delete domain. A nice bit about this feature that seems to be missed in the mentions is that we actually have a clickable portion on your home account page that says "Domains in Grace Period" which will list the names that are in that 4 day period. When you delete the domain, your money is refunded to your Moniker account (minus a 25 cent reprocessing fee). Cheers!

Hi,
I couldn't post in that other thread because it is on Platinum Forums. Can somebody tell me please if you can use paypal to fund your account?

In the other thread Don Lyons said at least 500 USD is better if you are using credit card. Otherwise cheque or wire transfer is preferable but there was no mention of paypal.

I'm in the UK and I don't wan't to pay continuously with my CC since I pay an overseas transaction fee everytime I use it. For instance at snapnames I'm paying that fee on every transaction and I'm not very happy with this. They don't have the option of adding funds with paypal.

On the other hand on namecheap I can add funds with paypal and I avoid any fees. Bank transfer will cost me money and cheques are neither practical or fast enough.

500 USD at once is too much for me. The only other reasonable option is paypal and I doubt this is possible at moniker.

Unfortunately namcheap doesn't have the taste and drop feature. They didn't even cancel my registration when I made a typo and contacted them the same day.

So I want everthing that namecheap has plus taste and drop and adding funds with paypal.

Erdinc, it is a completely viable means of funding your Moniker.com account, and we don't have a problem with it at all. Send me an email, and I will send you the precise instructions (they are a bit long to post here). Cheers!!

Places that refuse to let you cancel if you made a typo error really suck. They all are capable of cancelling at no cost within 5 days but the problem is they want the money so much they claim it can not be done which is not correct.

That happened twice to me at Namecheap.com and is a reason I do not like them. The first time I called within 5 minutes and they said absolutely no. The second time they claimed they never got my email about it which could not have been so.

Moniker permits it for any reason (including domain tasting) without even calling from within your CP. Even GoDaddy will let you cancel if you call them requesting it based on typo errors, perhaps by support email too.
