I read part of the .mail proposal, and you will NOT be able to use a name.mail domain for your regular website, and it will not even be seen in the email address. It's a behind the scenes email address (pseudo protocol) for spam free email. If you now own domain.com, you would send spam-free email from an address domain.com.mail. it would appear you could only "register" a name you already own in another tld. The TLD is sponsored by Spamhaus.org.
It also appears .cat will only be sites in Catalan language, whatever that is. I don't suspect they will be allowing kitty.cat for an english site.
.post is a postal office controlled domain. Here's a sample of their naming
