I tried to post this in "Domain News" but somehow it didn't go through (everytime I post in Domain News it seems to hit the Moderation Queue? -- odd!)

Anyhow, I thought Exclusives might want to know how their money is being managed at ICANN.

ICANN has lost $4.6 million of your money in the stock market, see:

http://www.circleid.com/posts/20090203_icann_blows_46_million_stock_market/

http://www.thedomains.com/2009/02/03/icann-losses-46-million-of-your-money-in-the-stock-market/

Someone needs to be held accountable.

(if a mod can approve the post in Domain News, and lock this thread later, that'd be ideal)

I read the CircleID article, it's yet another indication that greed and mismanagement might as well be a corporate title.

Well done for breaking the story, George.

Danny Younger deserves the credit, although I helped find some of the background information once he pointed out the loss on the ICANN GA Mailing List

http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/ga-200709/ (see posts from Feb 2 and since)

and then John Levine wrote the CircleID article (and Mike Berkens covered the story on his blog too).

By the way, ICANN's CFO wrote a comment in the CircleID comments, if you want their side of the story.....

I read the comments and I think that it's not a matter of subjective description of the process. The word I would use is "gambling". They might as well have taken the funds to Las Vegas and played blackjack with it.

I think more folks would be outraged if the post I made in "Domain News" was approved by the mods (does 2 links automatically trigger moderation??).
