IDN .com with OVT over 10,000

How is IDN market in china, japan, and korea?

Well, I think that there will always be a market in Indian for English domains.
Although, it won't be anything like the 1 Billion plus that is hyped. I reckon English will settle down to about 10-20% of the market, but that is just a guess.

I think if you get the right stuff then Indian IDNs are a very good bet, but it is still a gamle. Today's bets are:

Far East, it is now getting very difficult to register anything significant. The aftermarket is still slow but it is possible to sell domains, although anything you are likely to sell you would be strongly advised to hold, as it will certainly be worth a lot more later. Good domains will go for 4 figures, but might fetch 6 if they are held.

Everything will change once significant traffic appears.

From my observation so far, I think there are many times more Korean IDNs than Chinese or Japanese IDNs - i believe that Korean IDNs have progressed beyond speculation - end users are actually registering them.

To keep back on the theme of this topic. I remember months ago a pewrson on another forum told me a Japanese IDN is not worth anything unless it had an OVT jp stats with EXT.

The only way to get a Japanese IDN like that is

Japanese think of the dot com to mean online so occasionaly you find something that some people are trying to find an online server. Or an already popular site where they have the logo in Japanese. We have one of these & it does produce daily type-ins consistantly. More than the others. I think the OVT jp stats are around 16,000 a month though lower than all of our other IDN domains.

Olney, what I consider my best name has 180.000.000 search results in yahoo and about 70.000.000 in google, still the ovt +ext is not higher then 100 .

For the same reason that they type-in dot com in the US. Dot com is an establish worldwide brand and all top companies brand their sites with dot com whether it be in the US, Japan, India or China. The possible exception to this scenario is Germany where dot de is also a massive brand. Germany may be the only country in the world where they have registered their own ccTLD in preference to dot com.

If it's Japanese you must have a single character domain.
My best used to be based on OVT jp stats but then I changed to market value.
Defitely my domain "haken" for job search company is my top name. With over 10mil results on Google & an average bid rate for this keyword being about $5. I didn't realize the value till I saw the bid value.

I think I own a few of the tops in Japanese according to the OVT jp stats. I took the top ones for myself then told you guys how I did it in Japanese. If not you guys would get the domains I wanted...

That is because it is Chinese. But also Google and Overture do not Correlate. I is simply incidence of occurence on web pages the other is searched keywords. "and" will occur just about everywhere but nobody searches on it!

Yes, ultimately neither Google or Overture are determinants of Commericial Value. The Overture Bid Tool is probably the most important single indicator, but even that is not the whole story. It is no good having high Bid Value if you have low traffic or a low conversion rate. Don't think you need to worry too much about that though!

The keywords that come out with the highest .com OVT test are those related to websites, web services and free stuff, e.g. free pictures scored 12721!

All my financial domains ranked poorly despite 1000 to 1500Yen PPC :-(. Even the top domain loans.com (not mined) scored a miserable 26 points.

I managed to find the following just a while ago.

Yes, with the .com, but i dunno how accurate OVT JP is. Anyway, those keywords are not the most popular for the meaning they represent.

I meant the english translation gets 340 OVT + EXT (.com) for the english OVT.
In japanese it get's 70 OVT + EXT (.com) for the japanese OVT.

That same english translation gets 3.000.000.000 searches in google, placed for a .com it would definitely be worth millions despite the low OVT +EXT .

Frankly I don't think overture can be trusted to estimate traffic.

5016 for japan and well over 100.000 for the combinations.
250.000 combinations for taiwan.

You speak japanese right ? I might as well ask you, what is the japanese word for technology ?

I mean I get japanese universities of technology, institutes of technology etc. it seems to be the right term.

Picked up on the edited bit about 2 Glyphs being better than one. I think that is generally true, because they confer more precision of meaning.

The one big exception for Chinese Characters is that Surnames are invariablly single characters and popular Surnames make marketable domains.

Sorry as with everything else in China these have just about sold out!

That brings us back to the bit about the City symbol in Japanese. Until fairly recently most Japanese were not allowed a family name. When it suddenly became compulsory many of them apparently took their names from the town where they lived. Cities without the city symbol may therefore sometimes also be popular surnames. With the symbol that additional value is lost.

To be sure of the true value of Kanji characters, you would need to look at them not only in the Japanese context, but also both versions of Chinese and even Korean.

Your registered domain is the translation given by Google.

The japanese and chinese traditional versions are equal, the chinese simplified differs by the last character, the korean version is totally different.

If you put the Kanji into Google with its translation you get 5M results. That suggests to me that they are synonamous.

When I use the overture tool on the simplified version it gives nothing, not even without the extension. When I search in google, the first results actually show the chinese traditional/japanese translation.

So chinese traditional is equal to japanese in this case and it is treated the same as the simplified version. Explains the amount of search results

This should indicate that the simplified version .com is blocked due to variant overlap, it is not blocked, actually you own it ! (twilight music in background...)

No, i dun speak japanese, but i can read the Kanji in the Japanese keywords. I'm going after PPC rather than domain resell value, so i would register on the basis of JP Overture and PPC value.
